From the College
The University
In 1977, Keiser University was founded by the Keiser family in recognition of a need in the community for high-quality career education with a hands-on orientation. This philosophy, combined with solid academics, provides Keiser University graduates with a competitive edge when entering the workforce. With twelve convenient locations throughout Florida, Keiser University offers small class sizes for individualized attention. The University’s state-of-the-practice facilities help students gain hands-on experience in career-specific areas. Day, evening, and online classes with course materials that are relevant to current workforce needs ensure that students get the most from their education.
The Keiser University environment is a balanced one where students also take part in professional organizations and social activities. On campus, Keiser University students participate in the Student Government Association (SGA), athletic activities, and student parties. Students can also join in sports and social activities with other students from Keiser’s affiliate colleges and universities. The University assists all students interested in student housing in finding local apartments and private rooms in proximity to each campus. Adjacent to the campus is a newly renovated student residence that is 4 miles from Fort Lauderdale beach. All University campuses are located along major traffic arteries in order to provide easy commuting for students.
Keiser University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; telephone: 404-679-4501) to award the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees.

Academic Programs
Students take one course at a time for 4 to 5 hours a day, which enhances opportunities for practical hands-on learning and helps with the retention of information. Students complete one class at a time before moving to the next class. This promotes focus on each subject while avoiding juggling multiple assignments, projects, and exams at the same time. It also means that students know their complete schedule and date of graduation before beginning their academic program. Students never worry about needing a class that may not be offered in a particular semester.
Academic Facilities
At Keiser University, students gain valuable experience on equipment used in their professions. Computer students have labs that are equipped with the computers, programs, and technology used in some of the most advanced companies in the field. Students majoring in nursing and medical assisting work in the classroom with equipment to familiarize them with real-world medical settings. Keiser University is a member of five regional library cooperatives throughout Florida, which give students unparalleled access to millions of library resources. Keiser University also offers student housing facilities at the Fort Lauderdale campus.

Student Government
The purpose of the Student Government Association is to promote the general welfare of the student body; provide programs of educational, cultural, recreational, and social value to the University community; promote a spirit of harmony among administration, faculty and staff members, and students; meet the responsibilities of self-government; assure students’ rights as stated in the statement of students’ rights; and provide students with an organization through which their concerns may be registered within a representative and democratic governance. Representatives are elected by students at each campus. Officers are elected from within. SGA schedules periodic meetings as well as special promotions and activities.
