The university has a nationally ranked flight team, with the oldest aviation program among all universities in Illinois. Lewis University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. The State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation has approved the College of Nursing and Health Profession's program, and all nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Programs offered by the Department of Aviation have been accredited by the Federal Aviation Administration under regulations for the Approved Dispatcher Program, Approved Flight School, and Approved Aviation Maintenance Technician School.

Athletics at Lewis Offer Something for Everyone
With eighteen intercollegiate NCAA Division II athletic teams, Lewis University offers something for everyone who enjoys athletics. Lewis is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference in eighteen sports for men and women, including basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. The Athletic Training Education Program at Lewis University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
