McNeese State University is a selective coed university in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with an enrollment of over 8,000 students. McNeese is a member of the University of Louisiana System, one of the largest public higher education systems in the United States. Multiple Campus Areas Provide Elbow Room and Enable Students to Work with Professionals to Monitor the Environment

McNeese State University is located on a 121-acre main campus. There is also a 503-acre MSU Farm, which many students take advantage of during their time at McNeese. A student apartment complex and a 65-acre athletic plant provide plenty of living space for everyone and allow generous areas for participation in various sports. An additional 1,600 acres of donated farm property are used not only for farming, but also for research and ranching. The university also includes the Louisiana Environmental Research Center, where students can work with professionals to monitor environmental conditions and factors that affect the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana.

Student Clubs at McNeese Offer Valuable Opportunities, While Athletics Keep Bodies Fit to Complement Active Minds

McNeese fields a number of men's and women's varsity athletic teams, including baseball, cross-country, football, basketball, tennis, and volleyball. In addition to athletics, many other student groups at McNeese receive national recognition. The McNeese Jazz Ensemble was selected to perform at a national jazz festival, and the McNeese Speech and Debate Team recently won both the team and individual national championships.

Student activities also offer valuable opportunities for students to apply their education to real-world scenarios. Investment Club students in the College of Business get real-world experience investing funds and tracking the club's portfolio performance against the NYSE average.

With Seven Fulbright Scholars Onboard, the High-Quality McNeese Faculty Provides Hands-On Academic Experience

McNeese offers more than seventy-five degree programs that are spread among the various colleges. Regardless of what degree a student pursues, all students learn about prospective careers related to their chosen major in the Freshman Foundations course. The College of Business offers degrees in accounting, finance, marketing, and management. Students also attend a Business Day special event that brings in guest speakers from various industries and corporations. The College of Education offers many degrees, with psychology, special education, and physical education among them. The College of Engineering and Technology grants engineering degrees that continue to be in demand. Students in the College of Liberal Arts receive a broad foundation for the modern dynamic workplace, while the College of Nursing and College of Science both prepare students for real careers with hands-on experience in real laboratories and farms. Academic advisers are automatically assigned to all incoming first-year students, based on the student's declared intention of a major. When needed, the Writing Center provides students with assistance in writing and editing, and offers suggestions appropriate to their chosen major.
