The almost 90 buildings that make up the university are situated on over 200 acres of rolling landscape in the small town of Millersville. The centrally-located campus is just three miles from Lancaster City; an hour and a half from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two and a half hours from Washington, D.C.; and three hours from New York City.
With the professional assets of major cities nearby, students can seek internships in a variety of corporate sectors, including positions with Fortune 500 companies. The city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is appreciated by students who like its family-friendly atmosphere that also offers art and culture, such as the Lancaster Theatre, a national historic landmark.
New students will discover that Millersville is in Lancaster County, which is the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country. On a day away from studies, they can ride in a hot air balloon or Amish buggy, go horseback riding, or enjoy amusement park rides. When hunger hits, there are pretzel bakeries and the chocolates of Hershey Park to treat themselves to. Longwood Gardens is also a must-see with acres of outdoor and indoor displays, highlighted by fountains.

Intellectually Enriching Programs in Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science, and Education
With more than 50 bachelor's degree programs in the areas of science and mathematics, education, and humanities and social sciences, students will find an academic major to suit their interests at Millersville University.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is at the center of the university's liberal studies as all students learn to communicate effectively and think intellectually. This school offers many of the courses in the university's general education plan, a program that all students complete. More than a third of all Millersville students are enrolled in majors at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, which includes intellectually enriching programs in visual and performing arts, languages, history, and philosophy, among others.
Students will discover a rigorous program for future success in today's science and mathematics fields within the School of Science and Mathematics, which supports students with state-of-the-art research centers and facilities. There are many post-university options for students in the School of Science and Mathematics. Graduates of the majors in this school advance in their industry, business, research, and teaching careers, and disciplined thinkers go on to prestigious graduate and professional schools.
The programs in the School of Education are tied directly to the university's heritage; Millersville's history includes its early training of Pennsylvania teachers. Today, the School of Education houses six departments with multiple programs, including preparations for teachers, educational staff, and other critical disciplines.

Student life can mean shopping at the bookstore, meeting friends in the campus coffee shop, or working out in the university fitness center. The most fulfilling student life often includes attending campus events and joining student organizations.

Many Millersville students compile a student involvement transcript during their time at the university. This is a record of leadership, participation in student organizations, service activities, and professional development. With a long list of student organizations, those enrolled at Millersville have numerous opportunities to get involved with student life. The Greek community is designed to give students a combination of social, networking, and community service activities. On-campus cable and radio stations offer another avenue for students to explore career interests. The university encourages students to be connected to their religious faiths, and campus organizations that offer religious programs are welcomed.
Students who feel connected to their university often support its athletics programs. At Millersville, 21 intercollegiate varsity sports compete in the NCAA Division II wearing the school's black and gold colors. The university also supports a range of intramural sports and club programs for students who want to stay active.
