Newberry's Summerland Honors Program
In addition to its traditional minors and majors, Newberry College provides students with a Pre-Seminary Track and ROTC as well as many pre-professional programs through its Summerland Honors Program. These courses of study include a Pre-Law, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and Pre-Nursing.
Newberry College also offers dual-degree programs where students can attend Newberry College for three years before transferring to Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, Charleston School of Law, MUSC, Duke, or Clemson so that when they complete their program of study they will have earned two degrees.
Campus Life
Newberry College offers its students over 50 clubs and organizations on its South Carolina campus, providing excellent opportunities for growth and participation outside of the classroom. More than 50 percent of students participate in NCAA Division II sports at Newberry College; the athletic program includes 15 competitive NCAA teams for women and men. There are over 40 student organizations on campus, including Greek organizations.
Newberry College is a Southern Atlantic college, and its campus mirrors that tradition. The Newberry College campus boasts beautiful tree-lined streets, a temperate climate, and year-round outdoor recreational opportunities suck as hiking, boating, and golfing. The beach and mountains are only short drive from campus.
Students are also provided many opportunities to participate in dances, films, sororities and fraternities, wellness services, career planning, intramural activities, and student government.
Residence Life at Newberry
Newberry College students are provided an environment where they can discover more about themselves, the world, and their spiritual heritage. The resident hall system is an integral part of student life and the educational experience at Newberry College. Residence life at Newberry College promotes the intellectual, social, and physical development of students through a broad range of co-curricular activities and programs.
Students at Newberry College are required to live in on-campus housing until they have completed 92 hours of coursework. There are six residence halls on Newberry College campus, each with its own set of amenities. These include Brokaw Hall, Cromer Hall, East Hall, Kinard Hall, and Smeltzer Hall.
