Faculty members at Randolph are known for their passion for teaching and for their focus on students. The guidebook "Colleges of Distinction" recently recognized Randolph as one of the nation's best teaching-centered colleges. Of the faculty, over 90 percent are full-time and hold a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their field. Further, with an 8:1 student-faculty ratio, Randolph offers its students an individualized educational experience enhanced by excellent student-faculty interaction and opportunities for collaborative learning and research.
The rich academic program offers students a choice from more than fifty majors and minors. Popular majors include biology, psychology, English, environmental studies, politics/global studies, business, and communication studies.
Specialty Programs and Degree Opportunities at Randolph College Cover a Wide Spectrum of Disciplines and Interests
Randolph College offers many popular preprofessional programs in engineering, nursing, law, medicine, and veterinary studies. The teacher licensure program is enhanced by two new graduate degree programs in education.
Randolph's competitive, intensive, and paid Summer Research Program allows its students to spend eight weeks collaborating with faculty members on research. The program includes all disciplines across campus and offers students opportunities to present findings at professional conferences and/or to publish results in professional journals.
A world-class art collection, housed in the Maier Museum of Art on the Randolph College campus, offers students a unique opportunity to study works by outstanding American artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The collection comprises several thousand paintings, prints, drawings, and photographs.
Randolph is home to eighteen academic honor societies, including one of the oldest charters of Phi Beta Kappa in the nation and the fifth chapter granted in the state of Virginia. The college also offers the specialized Davenport Leadership Program and ample opportunities for involvement. More than 90 percent of students hold a leadership position before they graduate.
Study Abroad and other Off-campus Opportunities Broaden Horizons and Raise Awareness
A global perspective permeates Randolph College's educational experience. Nearly 45 percent of students participate in one of many study-abroad programs. Randolph's flagship study-abroad program, The World in Britain, allows students to live and study in Reading, England, for a year or a semester. Students can also choose from six affiliated programs in countries including Denmark, Mexico, Italy, Spain, France, and Greece, and from other approved programs.
Randolph College's American Culture Program recognizes that understanding an individual's own culture is fundamental to understanding the cultures of others. The program combines classroom lecture and discussion with a series of guest speakers and trips that examine the ways Americans see themselves, their values, their history, their contributions to the world, and their role in the world today.
An Internationally-certified Tutoring Program Covers More than 75 Courses
Randolph College's individualized educational experience prepares students for success in any field or endeavor. Complementing the academic program are comprehensive academic support services, including an internationally certified tutoring program that offers peer tutoring, at no expense, for more than seventy-five courses in addition to writing and general-learning strategies.
Scholarships and Financial Assistance Add to Randolph College Being an Exceptional Value
Randolph College is committed to providing a quality education of exceptional value. Randolph offers more than $14 million each year through a comprehensive program of financial assistance that includes competitive merit scholarships, need-based grants, low-interest loans, and campus employment. Each year, more than 95 percent of the College's students receive assistance of some kind, and all students are encouraged to apply, even those who assume they are ineligible. The average need-based financial aid package is $19,000.

Located in the heart of Virginia, Randolph College's picturesque 100-acre campus in an historic, residential area of Lynchburg, offers easy access to shopping, entertainment, and recreational, and cultural opportunities. Randolph is within easy driving distance of Washington, D.C., Richmond, and Virginia Beach. The city of Lynchburg was named one of the 2008 Best Places to Live by CNNMoney.com. In 2008, "Forbes" magazine also ranked Lynchburg number twenty-four in its list of 200 Best Metros for business and careers.
The college enjoys easy access to public transportation, including an Amtrak station, a regional airport, Greyhound bus service, and major highways. The College also provides shuttles to local shopping, entertainment, and dining venues.
