Robert Morris University: Foundations for Success
Students who want individual attention, small classes, and a tight-knit campus feeling of a private college, but also want the resources, professional connections, and job placement success stories of a big city university should consider Robert Morris University.
Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, gives its students the foundations for success. For almost 90 years, Robert Morris has built its reputation with strong academic programs in business fields - accounting, finance, marketing, and management. Now it has expanded its reach, to keep its 5,000 students competitive in the changing workforce.
Robert Morris University offers 60 undergraduate programs and 20 graduate programs, plus five-year integrated bachelor's/master's degrees in several fields. In addition, it still has one of the lowest tuition rates of any private college in Pennsylvania.
Career Development at Robert Morris University
Robert Morris puts a premium on getting its students ready for the workforce. Each of RMU's five schools offers a wide selection of internships. With a business, technology, and health care hub like Pittsburgh right on their doorstep, Robert Morris students have amazing opportunities to get their resumes ready while they are earning their degrees.
That's why the school has a 92 percent placement rate for its alumni, who are working in good jobs for employers like BNY Mellon, Highmark, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, or furthering their educations in grad school.
Special Programs Include Study Abroad, Honors, and Cooperative Education
Robert Morris University is a teaching-centered institution in Pittsburgh, with a 15:1 student-faculty ratio and small classes taught by professors, not graduate students.
Its study abroad programs provide opportunities for international study in Australia, China, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
The Patriot Scholars University Honors Program gives students an advanced curriculum including an honors seminar and thesis project.
The Cooperative Education Program lets students alternate semesters of academic study with up to four semesters of paid employment in their career field, so they can gain extensive work experience and earn a good income while still earning a degree.
Robert Morris University Encourages Student Engagement and Activity
The Robert Morris University campus continues to blossom and grow, with a new football stadium, apartment-style residence halls, and a new business school with a state-of-the-art simulated stock trading floor. Students also can take advantage of the 32-acre Island Sports Center near campus, with two indoor and two outdoor skating rinks, an indoor driving range, and other athletic and meeting facilities.
Because learning happens outside classrooms too, Robert Morris recently launched a new Student Engagement Transcript as a way to formally document students' involvement in leadership activities, community service, study abroad, internships, and more. The school gives any potential employers requesting academic transcripts a copy of the Student Engagement Transcript also. Employers can then see the whole picture of a Robert Morris University student, and how well he or she is prepared to succeed in his or her career.

A Quiet and Secluded Campus
Robert Morris University's 230-acre campus in suburban Pittsburgh is quiet and secluded, just what would be expected from the former estate of a millionaire. It was and still is a sanctuary from the outside world, where students can concentrate on their studies.
The campus is also a vibrant community with its own radio station and TV studio, where students can get involved in any of the 90 student activities and organizations, or just can relax in the dorms or at the café.
Students may play on one of the Robert Morris club teams, or cheer on the Colonials from the stands. Robert Morris University is loaded with school spirit with 23 Division I sports, including a men's basketball team that played in the NCAA tournament in 2009.
