St. Michael's College in Burlington offers a unique and energetic liberal studies curriculum that prepares students for successful and promising careers. The college nurtures intellectual curiosity and encourages students to explore their interests by providing a wide variety of academic areas of study and exposure to a variety of experiences. The liberal studies curriculum gives students a firm understanding of major disciplines by providing solid building blocks on which they may form their careers and live their lives as well-rounded people. These major disciplines include fine arts, math, natural science, philosophy, religious studies, social science, and humanities.
The liberal studies curriculum at St. Michael's College allows students to take courses in their majors while also allowing them the liberty of exploring other curricular offerings. Students are encouraged to engage in research with the college's faculty members, study abroad, or pursue internships. Students become skilled communicators as they develop exceptional writing and speaking skills. In addition, they are introduced to foreign languages that encourage globally minded communication.
The St. Michael's College honors program enhances the liberal studies curriculum by engaging students in small-group discussions, extracurricular opportunities, and research. The honors program is motivated by the college's mission of enhancing each student's college experience, promoting his or her intellectual growth, and encouraging involvement in community service. To be eligible for the honors program, students must earn and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete all honors program requirements. Those who do so receive distinct recognition upon graduation.
