One of Southern Utah University's (SUU) hallmarks is its academic quality. In 2008, SUU in Cedar City, Utah, was ranked in the Top Ten in the nation for quality and value by "Consumer Digest." In addition, "Princeton Review" named it as one of America's Best Value Colleges for 2007.

The achievements of Southern Utah University graduates attest to its high academic standards. In the last ten years, SUU graduates have had a 90 percent acceptance rate into accredited law schools. There has been an 86 percent acceptance rate at pharmaceutical schools. Acceptance by medical schools and dental schools averages 80 percent and 84 percent, respectively. There are 149 programs of study in a wide range of areas, including business, chemistry, computer science, the performing arts, the sciences, teacher education, nursing, and engineering, to name only a few. There are fewer than 30 students in 77 percent of the university's classes, and over 47 percent of the classes have less than 20. Southern Utah University (SUU) is located in Cedar City, Utah, in the heart of southern Utah. The school is just a two-and-a-half hour drive from Las Vegas, Nevada, and a three-and-a-half hour drive from Salt Lake City, Utah. Getting to Southern Utah University is easy. Among other options, students can fly directly into Cedar City or into nearby international airports in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Students of SUU enjoy the best of the four seasons. The temperatures range from an average high of 95°F (35°C) in the summer to an average low of 35°F (2°C) in winter. Students can find many activities outside the classroom, from skiing at local resorts to playing golf at one of the region's top golf courses to exploring the magnificent vistas of nearby national parks, such as Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Canyon. Cedar City offers a wide variety of restaurants, shopping venues, and cultural activities. Cedar City is home to the Tony-Award-Winning Utah Shakespearean Festival, and there are concerts by orchestras and choirs, fairs, and community events.

Southern Utah University's campus is a friendly and student-focused place. There are over 100 clubs that students can join, including the International Student Association. In addition, Southern Utah University holds a number of student activities every month, which are a great way to make new friends and have some fun. Activities range from a Mardi Gras party and movie nights to dances and performances by local bands.

Southern Utah University competes in sixteen NCAA-sanctioned sports. Students also have opportunities to play on one of the many intramural or club teams, which include basketball, football, and soccer. There is a state-of-the-art physical education building on campus with racquetball/squash courts, basketball courts, an indoor track, fitness center, and an Olympic-size swimming pool.

Admission Requirements for International Students Attending Southern Utah University

International applicants to Southern Utah University must submit an Application for Admissions at www.suu.edu/prostu/intl-apply.html. They must include a $55 application fee in U.S. currency only. Official transcripts (record of courses taken and grades received) from each secondary school, college, or university attended must also be submitted. All foreign college or university transcripts must be literal and complete and must be translated by an authorized translation service. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the school attended or the evaluation service to the Southern Utah University's Cedar City campus at: SUU International Admissions Office, 351 West University Boulevard, Cedar City, Utah 84720. Faxed transcripts and other documents are not considered official. Notarized transcripts are not considered official.

All students must provide verification of adequate health and medical insurance. Each student MUST also submit immunization records and proof of a negative TB test within six (6) months of entering the United States. Students who have not had a current TB test may elect to have the test taken within five (5) days of arrival at Southern Utah University at a minimal cost of $25.
