Stonehill College is a welcoming, academically challenging community of 2,350 students on a beautiful, active campus located 22 miles south of Boston. Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1948, Stonehill is a selective Catholic college with a mission "to educate the whole person so that each graduate thinks, acts, and leads with courage toward the creation of a more just and compassionate world." Stonehill is located in Easton, Massachusetts, a friendly residential community nestled between New England's largest capital cities. The college is located just 22 miles from Boston, America's number one college town, and 37 miles from Providence, making it perfectly situated for internships, service opportunities, job prospects, museums, professional sports games, cultural events, and more. Stonehill's 384-acre campus features traditional landscaping, ponds, wooded trails, Georgian-style architecture, and award-winning student housing.
Stonehill Offers a Liberal Arts Curriculum Combined with Learning Communities, Top Facilities, and Unique Programs
More than 80 diverse majors and minors in the liberal arts, sciences, and business are available to prepare Stonehill College students for a life of learning, leadership, and responsible citizenship. The core of Stonehill's liberal arts curriculum is the Cornerstone Program, which leads students to examine the self, society, culture, and the natural world through courses in ethics, sciences, language, and more. Students take interdisciplinary Learning Communities, which combine two academic courses from different disciplines with a team-taught seminar that explores an interrelated topic from both perspectives, and a major Capstone course for seniors.
Stonehill is also in the top 10 percent of colleges nationwide in enriching educational experiences such as competitive internships, nationally ranked study abroad opportunities, and co-curricular programs, according to the National Survey of Student Engagement. With a low student-to-faculty ratio of 13-to-1 and an average class size of 20, Stonehill College sees individual attention as a key component of its academic programs. Stonehill's accomplished faculty members champion their students throughout all four years and are dedicated to teaching, frequently conducting publishable research with students to help with their integrated learning process. Stonehill students and alumni succeed because the entire college community collaborates to help them develop the knowledge, skills, and character to meet their professional goals and live lives of purpose and integrity. Of a recent Stonehill graduating class, 92 percent were employed within one year of graduation; 38 percent attended top medical, law, or other graduate programs; and 8 percent joined or applied for a year-long volunteer service program.
On average, Stonehill students graduate at a higher rate and in less time than students at many other colleges and universities. About 82 percent of Stonehill students graduate within four years, which is more than double the national average. Also, Stonehill's four-year graduation rate is 40 percent higher than the average national five-year rate for public institutions.
An Active Student Life Allows Stonehill Students to Become Involved and Have Fun Outside the Classroom
From enjoying on-campus activities to just hanging out with friends, students have a number of opportunities for fun at Stonehill. The college's Student Government Association (SGA) is one of the country's most active; its programming won an award from the National Association of Campus Activities. Stonehill also offers free transportation to Boston's public subway system, allowing for easy access to the excitement of the city. More than 80 percent of Stonehill students participate on an NCAA Division II varsity team or in an intramural or club sport, and more than 70 clubs and organizations are available, including a literary magazine, "Rolling Stonehill," the Ski/Snowboard Club, and the Neuroscience Society.

As a Catholic college, Stonehill has a strong commitment to community service. Each year, approximately 1,400 Stonehill students participate in volunteer outreach and provide around 40,000 hours of service. Significant opportunities for community service include alternative spring break H.O.P.E. trips for students and faculty chaperones to sites from Honduras to the Gulf Coast and Texas. Into the Streets, a student-run outreach program that involves faculty and staff, is Stonehill's largest community service program with more than 350 students participating every year.
