Vermont Technical College's High Job Placement Rate Reflects the Students' Academic Achievements

The degree programs at Vermont Technical College are designed to provide graduates with an educational foundation that enables them to secure valuable careers or successfully seek enrollment in graduate programs. When combining the recent job placement rate (graduates securing degree-related jobs) and success in seeking acceptance in advanced-studies programs, Vermont Tech graduates have experienced an impressive success rate of more than 95 percent. The college is dedicated to providing student job resources and career services that assist students with their career goals so they fully benefit from the college's programs and reap the rewards of the school's impressive job placement rate.

One student resource is Vermont Tech Connections, a database of job, internship, and volunteer opportunities for students and graduates. The college's Career Services Center maintains this database as a student job resource for on-campus employment (both work-study or non-work-study) and as a vehicle by which students can search for jobs and internships. Students can also use Vermont Tech Connections to seek out alumni who are willing to mentor them in their chosen fields.

The Career/Transfer Center sponsors field trips that help students visit other cities for trade shows and to establish networking with professionals in their chosen fields. In addition, the center helps students by providing career/job information (company literature, reference books, on-campus speakers, and corporate visits) and college information (college catalogs, applications, and scholarship information). Personalized career services are available in the form of career counseling, career testing, help with resume writing, advice for job hunting, and training in interview skills. Student job resources extend to access to computers, publications, resume paper, and tools that support a career search.

The college's Associate of Science, Applied Science, or Engineering degrees can be earned in dental hygiene, fire science, landscape development and ornamental horticulture, nursing, respiratory therapy, sustainable design and technology, and a variety of specialties within the fields of engineering, management, and technology. To help meet the need of local employers and the scheduling needs of working adults, most of those programs, with the addition of a few employer-requested majors, are also offered online.

Class sizes are conducive to instruction, while labs and seminars contribute to specialized knowledge. Since Vermont Tech is a smaller college, students are not lost in a sea of faces. They receive assistance through tutoring and study-skills support. Faculty members are professionals who are anxious to share their experience and expertise with students seeking bachelor and associate degrees.
