From the College
The Art Institute of New York City prepares students to pursue entry-level employment in the creative arts. Students learn through programs of study that reflect the needs of a changing job market. Courses are taught by faculty members who have knowledge and experience in their fields of expertise. The school offers five associate degree programs.
Individualized job search assistance is available to help students with resume writing, networking, and keeping aware of what employers are looking for in job candidates.
The Art Institute of New York City is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges to award associate degrees and certificates. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Academic Programs
The Art Institute of New York City offers associate degree programs in art and design technology (with concentrations in fashion design, graphic design, interior design, and video production) and Web design & interactive media. Each academic program is offered on a year-round basis, allowing students to continue to work uninterrupted toward their degrees.
Costs
Tuition costs vary by program. Prospective students should contact the school for current tuition costs. Other charges include a starting kit for all first-quarter students. Kits vary in price, depending on the program of study.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The Art Institute of New York City participates in federal, state, and other financial aid programs.

Faculty members at The Art Institute of New York City are professionals, many of whom have experience in their respective fields. There are full-time and part-time faculty members at the school.

Student Body Profile
Students come to The Art Institute of New York City from throughout the United States and abroad. The student population includes recent high school graduates, transfer students, and those who have left a previous employment situation to study and train for a new career. Students are creative, competitive, and open to new ideas. They place great value on an education that prepares them for an exciting entry-level position in the arts.
Student Activities
There are several events for students throughout the year that celebrate culture, health, and holidays. The Student Activities Office also provides shape-up and wellness programs for students, along with The Art Institute of New York City Celebrates Women program. Students are offered many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. Culinary students work at various events throughout the city as well as open-house programs at the school.
Facilities and Resources
The Art Institute of New York City is located in the SoHo/Tribeca district of New York City. The school contains computer labs, drawing studios, a student bookstore, and an art gallery.
Location
Manhattan is a hub of contemporary style, and New York City provides a wealth of opportunities for students to explore their creative side. Broadway plays, art museums, music halls, and professional sports teams are just some of the many entertainment options available to students who make the Big Apple their home.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must complete an application form and complete a 150-word essay to apply for admission to The Art Institute of New York City. A personal interview with an admissions representative is required. Applicants must provide official high school transcripts, proof of successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, or transcripts from any college previously attended. There is a $50 application fee.
