The Pennington School is a coeducational boarding and day school located near Princeton, New Jersey. The Pennington School is affiliated with the Methodist Church, and its Christian values are evident in the nurturing community that students find themselves in. A Creative and Energetic Arts and Drama Community with State-of-the-Art Equipment and Facilities Awaits Students at TPS
Upper School students at Pennington School choose their area of arts specialization after completing basic courses in drama, music, and art. The Pennington School is a haven for art and music enthusiasts. The state-of-the-art music facilities include the music theory classroom, which is a soundproofed studio available to students for composing and audio mixing their own original music. The tiered choral rehearsal room is acoustically designed to optimize vocal performances. The instrument and vocal rehearsal rooms consist of three separate soundproofed rooms where students can rehearse without disturbing each other. The photography darkroom has facilities for both photochemistry and digital enhanced imagery. The kiln room is a fully equipped ceramic center with wheels, kilns, and a spacious, airy work area where art students can indulge their creativity. The glass-framed art studios allow natural light to filter in as students draw, paint, and complete graphic design projects. Pennington has regular exhibitions, both on campus and in the surrounding communities, to showcase the students' artwork and photography. The annual fall theater production allows students to develop and exhibit their dramatic and vocal talents and is just one of many dramatic events throughout the school calendar.
Students at the Pennington School Can Enhance Their Academic Careers by Participating in Advanced Placement Courses
The Pennington School offers 16 Advanced Placement courses in line with the standards prescribed by the Educational Testing System (ETS). If students achieve a grade above 3 on an AP exam, they could obtain college credits for the courses. The AP courses are rigorous and require diligent work effort and consistent academic application. Some of the AP courses offered at Pennington School include Macroeconomics, American History, Calculus, Music Theory, and a range of sciences and foreign languages. Because of the high academic expectations, students may only take a maximum of three Advanced Placement courses in any given year. Combined with the core curriculum, Pennington School AP courses greatly increase the student's chances of college placement.
As a college preparatory school, a strong emphasis is placed on not only covering the academic curriculum but also being able to apply and develop the concepts learned. The study programs at Pennington result in mature critical thinkers who can easily transition into a college environment after graduation. The Pennington School Has a Competitive Athletics Program that Aids Students in Personal Development and Sports Skills
The athletics program at Pennington School allows students with different levels of ability to develop their interests in a wide variety of sports. One student's goal may be to simply master a new skill, while another's may be to compete for a state championship. A newly built sports turf is home to the school's football teams. Athletes participating in track and field, swimming, cross-country, softball, or baseball can enjoy the well-maintained grounds and sports facilities.
In recent years the school has partnered with an outside organization that focuses on personal development and physical conditioning through athletics programs. Students can participate in specific strength and speed training that helps them to fulfill their physical potential. The training programs also help students empower themselves so that they can be of service to others in the community around them.
