Obtain a Quality Graduate Degree from Angelo State University Graduate School in Texas

The Angelo State University graduate school consists of four colleges, and was recently listed in a leading college review publication as one of the top graduate schools in Texas. There are more than 20 different graduate degree programs available at Angelo from these five colleges: College of Liberal and Fine Arts, College of Education, College of Sciences, College of Business, and College of Nursing and Allied Health.

The College of Education has a 100 percent record for graduate students passing the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) teacher certification for secondary mathematics, an accomplishment that spans 10 years.

Agricultural students at the College of Sciences have access to ASU's Management, Instruction, and Research Center located six miles from San Angelo. It is made up of farmland and range, and covers some 6,000 acres. Combined with the Food Safety and Product Development Laboratory, it provides a broad range of research opportunities for students.

Other facilities on campus include the ASU Planetarium, which is the fourth largest among colleges and universities in the U.S. The university's Natural History Collections contains an impressive display of 2,100 bird species, 13,000 mammal specimens, 14,000 amphibian and reptile specimens, and 55,000 plant specimens. The collection is studied and maintained by the biology department at ASU.

Angelo State Offers Students the Opportunity to Complete Their Masters Degrees Part- or Full-time

Of the 20 graduate degree programs at Angelo State University, most are designed to accommodate both full- and part-time students. Angelo recognizes that many of the enrolled graduate students are employed full-time in various industry sectors. For courses such as the MBA study program, lectures are held in the evenings so that students can attend without disrupting their work schedules.

In addition, ASU uses technology to the benefit of both faculty members and students, with students able to submit assignments and do research online. Many of the post-graduate certificate courses offered at Angelo State can be completed online. This allows students a far greater degree of flexibility.

The MBA degree offers business and accounting students an advanced study program that equips them to hold corporate positions as financial managers and directors after graduation. Students studying English, communications, history, or education will have the privilege of studying under faculty members that hold doctorates in their respective fields and who regularly present papers at seminars and conferences.

Students Participate in Specialized Graduate Programs at Angelo State University

Angelo State is well known for its specialist graduate programs. For example, the Master of Science degree in Nursing has three different areas of specialization: clinical nursing, nursing education, and nurse practitioner. Nursing and other medical science degrees can be combined with courses in public administration, thus broadening the scope of career opportunities for graduating students.

There are also several certificate courses that supplement the various study programs. Students wanting to specialize in psychology and counseling also have a choice of an industrial, applied, or counseling specialization. A reading specialist course is yet another of the unique courses offered at ASU.

Angelo State University is one of the few college institutions offering a doctorate in physical therapy. This is a full-time graduate study program that includes summer semesters and follows on from a bachelor's degree. It is an intensive three-year course in which students have to obtain 99 credits in order to graduate.

Students with a keen interest in liberal arts and fine arts will enjoy the university's location in the town of San Angelo, Texas, where there are several museums and galleries showcasing various forms of art.

Benefit from Scholarships and Financial Aid Packages Available to Complete Graduate Studies at Angelo State

The scholarship program at Angelo State University is reputed to lead the way in terms of master's degree institutions in Texas. Scholarships are available for both part and full-time students. Because many graduate degree programs include research and practical applications, many of the study programs include opportunities for assistantships. This provides students an opening to work closely with faculty members and gain insight into their expertise and specialized knowledge.

The Carr Graduate Scholarship is either a tuition-only, or tuition and fee-based scholarship awarded to graduate students on the basis of academic ability and financial need. Scholarships need to be applied for on an annual basis and minimum academic standards apply. ASU also has provisions for students to obtain government and private grants to cover the costs of their tuition.

MSN students can apply for scholarships if they have been accepted to both the graduate school and Department of Nursing at ASU. For education students in the graduate program, a Texas Public Education Grant can be applied for. However these are limited and are awarded on the basis of financial need.
