Overview

Athabasca University Offers an Online Executive MBA and an Online Doctorate in Business Administration

In 1994, Athabasca University (AU) logged on with the world's first fully interactive online Executive MBA program. Today, the AU MBA is Canada's largest Executive MBA program, and has taken a place among the most respected Executive MBAs in the world.

In 2009, the Faculty of Business continued the tradition by launching Canada's first online Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) program. This program is designed to develop highly qualified management talent who will foster innovation and competitive advantage for business and government in Alberta, Canada, and world-wide.

In both programs, students representing a broad cross-section of industries, companies, and geographic locations bring an exceptional diversity of experience, perspective, and expertise to the rich online classroom interaction.

The 24-hour online format makes it feasible and practical to work on a high quality graduate management education while meeting commitments to work and family. Using electronic communication, students are able to share documents, presentations, designs, procedures, and processes across geographic and organizational boundaries at any time, night or day. AU MBA students study in Canada, the US, Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and other regions around the world.

Athabasca's Leadership and Management Development Courses Are Tailored to Fit Professional Needs

Comprehensive Expertise Is a Hallmark of the Faculty of Business's Faculty Members

The launch of the AU online MBA in 1994 broke down the barriers of time and space for both learners and faculty members. Because of the unique delivery system, AU is able to employ faculty members from virtually anywhere.

As experts in their respective fields and in the use of interactive technologies for teaching, the faculty members and academic coaches ensure that the Faculty of Business graduate management students gain proven business theory and practical implementation skills in all critical management areas.

Faculty members reside in and work from locations that stretch from sea to sea and beyond, while a core group of academics work from the Faculty of Business central offices in St. Albert, Alberta. They ensure that Faculty of Business graduate management students engage in up-to-date courses, study relevant issues, and develop the right skills for leading and managing within students' organizations.
