The college, which is located in Seattle, Washington, in the northwestern region of the United States, is known nationwide for its innovative approach to business education.

In fact, the Huffington Post ranked the MBA program at Bainbridge Graduate Institute as one of the top programs in sustainable business. In addition, Net Impact -- an environmental sustainability organization -- awarded the college its prestigious gold standard.

Progressive Learning Community

Bainbridge Graduate Institute welcomes adult learners who have diverse personal, educational, and professional backgrounds. They join a community of fellow students, change agents, educators, entrepreneurs, and innovators who are committed to balancing the needs of business and people with the needs of the planet.

Students graduate fully prepared to lead large corporations, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, or entrepreneurial ventures. They also have the skills needed to successfully incorporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability into business operations, while achieving financial success.

Curriculum Design

Bainbridge Graduate Institute provides curricula that integrate traditional instruction and coursework with team-oriented applied projects, field experience, and research. The curricula also emphasize leadership, teamwork, fluency with software programs, and expertise with online collaboration tools.

Instruction is delivered via faculty lectures and presentations, faculty-moderated analysis, faculty-led exercises with debriefings, guest speakers, and panels of experts. Classroom discussions, case studies, simulations, online conferences, and threaded online discussions are also used.

MBA with Industry Concentrations

The college offers industry concentrations that allow students to focus on 1 of 3 areas: sustainable food and agriculture systems, sustainable built environment, or sustainable energy solutions.

Metro MBA Program

The Metro MBA program consists of an in-person, course-based format that allows students to enroll throughout the year. Students attend classes 2 to 3 evenings per week and generally earn their degrees in 2 years and 3 months.

They complete 60 credits of coursework including core courses in economics, finance, marketing, and operations management. They also complete sustainable business courses such as "Economics of Sustainability," "Finance for Sustainability," "Marketing and Sustainability," and "Sustainable Operations."

Additionally, students take courses in entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, leadership, and elective subjects.

Hybrid MBA Program

The Hybrid MBA program, which can be completed in 2 to 3 years, is a cohort-based program that consists of 60 credits. It includes 9, 4-day intensives per year that allow faculty members and students to meet face-to-face; classes are held online between intensives.

In the 1st year, students complete a curriculum of traditional core courses that address social and environmental concerns. They also begin coursework in leadership and personal development.

The 2nd year of the program includes 12 credits of elective courses that allow students to customize their programs of study. It also includes an Action Learning Practicum and management courses.

Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership Program

BGI has a 2-year MA in Organizational Leadership program that prepares students to lead positive change in their organizations and communities. The 60-credit program follows the cohort format in which students meet for 3 to 5 days once per month for 7 consecutive quarters and attend 2 week-long residential sessions.

The program's curriculum explores many aspects of organizational change including systems, intervention, leadership, group dynamics, and global and multicultural perspectives. It also includes a theory paper, consulting team project, and capstone project.

Bainbridge Graduate Institute offers 3 graduate certificates in sustainable business that can be completed in 4 quarters (1 year). The Sustainable Built Environment program explores the factors that created and continue to shape the field and discusses the technical, legal, financial, and operational aspects of green building design and construction.

Furthermore, the Sustainable Energy Solutions program examines the generation, transmission, and consumption industries and emphasizes technologies, methods, and behaviors. Students learn about the fuel types and sources, transportation issues, and consumption patterns that impact society.
