M.P.A. - Health Administration Curriculum

The M.P.A. -- Health Administration degree program includes 6 core courses, a comprehensive exam, and 5 health administration courses. Required courses include "Seminar in Public Administration and Its Environment," "Seminar in Public Policy Process," and "Research Methods in Public Administration." "Seminar in Organization Theory and Human Behavior," "Public Budgeting and Financial Administration," and "Intergovernmental Relations" are also required courses.

Health Administration courses consist of "Systems for Health Delivery" in the U.S. (national option) and "Health Services Administration Theory and Practice" (national option). Additional courses are "Leadership in Health Administration Practice," "Seminar in Healthcare Organization," and "Managing Change in Healthcare Organizations."

The M.P.A. Exam

The M.P.A. -- Health Administration degree program culminates with a comprehensive exam that covers theories and practices in general public administration and health administration. Students write for 3 hours on topics in each of these areas. Emphasis is placed on analysis and application of theory into practice.

Students receive study exam questions and exam preparation strategies. They are also encouraged to participate in study groups.
