Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University

The wellbeing of the planet and the wellbeing of humanity depend on professionals who approach the environmental problems of the world from a truly interdisciplinary perspective. Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment in North Carolina believes that dealing with these environmental challenges demand professionals who approach the issues from a truly interdisciplinary perspective. Students can choose from fields of study that include conservation and forestry, ecosystem science and conservation, global environmental change, coastal management, environmental economics, energy, water resources, and environmental health.

Choosing to attend the Nicholas School of the Environment for a professional degree ensures that students gain skills and tools that enable them to take a broad approach to the world's ecosystem problems, incorporating different perspectives from science to economics to policy to business and beyond. The goal at the Nicholas School is to train environmental stewards who wisely guide Earth's resources and are, in turn, inclusive thinkers.

Unique among American environmental schools, the Nicholas School of the Environment builds such expertise in its students. Located in the heart of the campus, the school provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary program focused on the relationship of the environment and society to prepare scientists, managers, and policymakers to promote the sustainable use of Earth's resources. The goal is to develop critical and creative thinkers and doers who will forge a sustainable future. The Nicholas School is global, empirical, and ethical. It is about the world -- today and tomorrow.
