Master of Science in Nursing Program at Felician College Has Three Tracks
Felician College has two traditional campuses, one in Lodi, New Jersey, and the other in Rutherford, New Jersey, as well as an online campus. The Master of Science in Nursing program at Felician College is recognized around the world as a leader in nursing education. The program is fully accredited by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
The college offers a Master of Science degree in Nursing, which is a 42-credit education-track program. This program is meant to prepare nurses who have a BSN (from an accredited academic institute of higher learning) to take on roles as faculty in colleges and universities, as educators in health care groups and organizations, or as community and family educators.
Whether on the Lodi or Rutherford campus, the Felician College education-track nursing degree program features a curriculum of eight core courses. The Master of Science in Nursing program aims to build on each student's clinical knowledge, giving everyone a broad base of experience and knowledge as a nurse educator. This program can be completed in two years.
Felician College also offers family nurse (46 credits) and adult nurse practitioner (43 credits) tracks in the Master of Science in Nursing program. These tracks can be completed online or on campus; each can be completed in two years. Students select their clinical practicum sites and clinical preceptors through guidance from qualified faculty.
Post-Master's Certificate Programs for Adult Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner at Felician
Felician College also offers post master's certificate programs for adult nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. These are programs for post-master's certificates in education, and have been formed to prepare nurses who have a M.S. in Nursing for roles as educators in settings such as higher education, health care organizations, and continuing education, in addition to educators of family and community.
The required number of credits for completion of this certificate is determined after Felician College evaluates each individual candidate's prior education and study. Minimally, candidates must have completed all courses within Felician's graduate level nursing research and education track. Assuming that the candidate has completed all of the program's prerequisites, this certification can be completed with 23 credits.
The family nurse practitioner and adult nurse practitioner post-master's certificate tracks can also be completed online. Students select their clinical practicum sites and preceptors with guidance from Felician College faculty. The online program is designed to qualify students for American Nurses' Credentialing Center certification and licensure as an APN by the State Board of Nursing. The online track for adult nurse practitioner can be completed in 28 credits and the family nurse practitioner online track can be completed in 31 credits.
Career Services and Nursing Resource Centers at Felician Enhance Students' Education and Career Planning
Felician College students on its Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey, campuses have access to a Career Services Center, which is meant to help students with career and professional planning. The center is equipped to help students in all stages of their professional and academic endeavors. It offers many workshops, programs, information sessions, and various career-related programs.
These programs are designed to prepare Felician College students for a smooth transition into their profession or professional studies. The Career Services Center provides students with free career-related communications and publications, a resource library, professional fairs, access to employer recruitment events, video interviewing forums and sessions, job search assistance, job postings, and on-campus employment and internship opportunities.
The Nursing Resource Center is an integral facet of the teaching program at Felician College. Located on the Lodi campus, this center has a cutting-edge computer room where students use interactive video programs to enhance their learning experience. The center also offers workshops and staff to further assist students with learning and comprehension.
In addition, Felician's Nursing Resource Center also touts a large, simulated hospital setting; the whole center is employed to enhance the learning experience of students. Center staff help students with their clinical competencies by using state-of-the art equipment such as SimMan (a patient simulator). Faculty programs SimMan to simulate nearly any imaginable medical condition, and he will display the symptoms and signs.
