Over 150 Graduate Programs at Hofstra University

All graduate programs at Hofstra University encourage interdisciplinary research, scholarship, and professional training in order to develop students as experts and leaders in their chosen fields. Hofstra University offers 15 graduate degrees in over 150 program options through the institution's 10 colleges and schools.

Eight master's degrees are available in over 95 fields; degrees offered are the Master of Arts (MA), the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Fine Arts (MFA), the Master of Health Administration (MHA), the Master of Public Health (MPH), the Master of Science (MS), and the Master of Science in Education (MSEd). An Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is also available.

Four doctoral degrees are available in 8 different areas of study: the Doctor of Education (EdD) degree, the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree, and the Professional Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) degree.

Advanced certificates (Adv. Certs.) are offered in 34 areas, including rehabilitation counseling, literacy studies, and business programs. Four professional diplomas (PDs) are available, as well as a Postdoctoral Respecialization in Clinical and/or School Psychology, and several law school programs.

Hofstra also offers 2 first professional degrees, the JD and MD, and 11 joint degrees.

Hofstra University is home to 17 unique academic institutes that push for advancements in research within their fields. For instance, the Center for Condensed Matter Research focuses on the practical applications of physics, including in the areas of photocells, types of networks, and more powerful computers. The Maurice A. Deane School of Law itself houses several research centers, including the Center for Legal Advocacy, the Institute for Health Law and Policy, and the Center for Children, Families, and the Law.

The National Center for Suburban Studies conducts original research and applies scholarly insights to the areas of arts and culture, diversity, education, government and politics, recovered histories, sustainability, and social and economic justice -- all within the scope of suburban life. Through endeavors like the Suburban Oral Histories Project, the center seeks to document the development of suburban areas and to identify, analyze, and create solutions to the problems and shortcomings of present-day suburbia.

The Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency is one of the few institutions in the country with a unique focus on research and analysis related to the American presidency. The center holds annual conferences and symposia that attract leading journalists, scholars, and political practitioners from around the world. These symposia have also been viewed as the first draft of history for the administrations they addressed.

State-of-the-Art Computer Labs at Hofstra University

Hofstra houses 48 specialized computer labs with over 1,100 computers that are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. For example, the Language Lab has over 65 workstations and specialized software that address a multitude of languages. Hammer Lab provides color printing and scanning capabilities for 10 Macs and 65 PCs, as well as a designated resume printing facility.

The Student Computing Services Technical Support Center provides walk-in technical support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues. The Calkins Learning Lab offers software classes and learning support in addition to computer use and printing. The university also houses an on-campus computer repair center.
