Graduate Information Systems Management -- An Overview

A firm grasp of technological concepts and practices is no longer an option for today's businessperson. It is a necessity. Holy Family University's master's in information systems management program offers students the leading-edge knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a global, technology-driven business environment.

Holy Family's M.S. in I.S. management blends business and technological education and is ideal for a wide range of working professionals who seek a leadership role in the field of information systems. Those with an information systems background will acquire critical management and operational skills, allowing them to assume leadership positions within their organizations. Those with no technology background will be given a comprehensive understanding of I.S. and the pivotal role it plays in virtually every business discipline.

Innovation and Experience Coming Together

Holy Family's program is recognized for innovative courses taught by experienced faculty, as well as methods that teach skills and problem solving to meet the challenge of business in the real world.

Holy Family strives for a balance between business and information technology -- a balance that differentiates its program from others in the Philadelphia area. The Holy Family Master of Science in information systems is designed for professionals with an undergraduate degree in any field who want to supplement their skill sets with an advanced understanding of information technology and its integrated role in business today.

A Flexible Program, A Versatile Degree

Holy Family's M.S. in information systems management requires 33 credits, which can be completed in six semesters, or fewer than two years. Classes are flexible and are offered on Saturdays and weeknights at the easily accessible main campus, in Northeast Philadelphia, and at Holy Family's convenient site in Newtown, Bucks County. Personalized scheduling accommodates students' busy lifestyles.

Holy Family's program will prepare you to manage a broad array of computer resources and technology issues for organizations of all sizes. Coursework includes in-depth study of networks, information security, computer forensics, project management, business finance and marketing, human resources management, communications applications, current topics in information systems, e-commerce, and other advanced topics, with an emphasis on management techniques.

To develop students' strategic information systems management skills, Holy Family's program seeks to provide students with a strong foundation of management and leadership skills as well as an advanced understanding of information systems and their integrated role in business today; to provide opportunities for the development of innovative and effective teaching methods rooted in an understanding of management theory and research; to provide successful professional managers with the flexibility to assume leadership roles in information systems management and in managerial leadership; to nurture a deep commitment to excellence in information systems management and managerial leadership as a means of service to others; and to provide a supportive and cooperative learning environment that encourages students to develop their potential for study and their understanding of information systems management.

An Institutional Focus on Outcomes

Holy Family's is a challenging academic environment. To succeed here, students must be committed. They must put in the work, the hours, and the effort. But if students are willing to dedicate themselves, their efforts will be rewarded. Students will receive a first-class education that will enable them to explore new ideas and experiences, one that will fully prepare them for the next steps of their careers as soon as they graduate.

It's easy to see why Holy Family graduates stand out. The difference is real-world. The difference is experience. The difference is preparedness and a focus on student outcomes.

A Challenging and Nurturing Environment

Respect for the individual, the dignity of the human person -- these values are at the very core of the Holy Family institution. They are values that are taught at the university; even more, they are values that are lived there. Holy Family's concern for moral values and social justice guides its programs and enriches everything that it does.

Those values give rise to a vigorous, demanding educational experience that will challenge students even as it teaches them. Yet Holy Family's legacy is also one of mutual support and community. Holy Family's is a smaller, more personal learning environment. Here, students will know their professors, and those professors will, in turn, know their students. When students raise their hands, they will be called on by name. If students have questions, those questions will be answered. If students need additional help, they will get it. Students' education here will be more personal, more welcoming, and more in tune to their success.
