Overview

A unique opportunity for graduate students to explore the interface and interdependence of leadership and ethics

The Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Ethics approaches ethics and leadership as equal partners. Leadership training, without an understanding of ethics, does not produce responsible, accountable leaders. Ethics, without a leadership view, does not provide the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to develop and implement vision and forward thinking. Thus, the interdependence of ethics and leadership is addressed in the courses in this Certificate program.

This five-course, 15-credit graduate certificate program, taught in a mix of online and face-to-face formats, provides students with a new skill set to add to their professional portfolios and gain competitive advantages over their peers. It develops ethically sound leaders who embrace a global perspective, develop people and teams, steward societal resources, understand organizational strategy, and lead with integrity.

The features of the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Ethics

Guided by leadership and ethics theory, the Certificate program provides a unique opportunity to explore the interface and interdependence of leadership and ethics and apply this learning to professional settings. The knowledge and skills gained from the certificate assists students to be better prepared for leadership positions in business, education, health care, non-profit, or community work and offers an extra dimension to master's level education or professional life. Certificate completion yields a marketable dimension to a college degree compared to uncertified peers in the field. Ethically-conscious organizations value graduates with this additional education.
