Founded over 150 years ago, Millersville University is one of the most highly-regarded public universities in its region of the United States.

Millersville University is located on 250 acres in the heart of historic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The tranquil campus features a pleasing mix of historic buildings and modern structures. Its central location affords easy access to the rich cultural and recreational resources of major East Coast cities such as Baltimore and Philadelphia (one hour away), Washington, D.C., and New York City, only two to three hours from campus.

With a student population of approximately 7,000 undergraduate and more than 1,100 graduate students, Millersville University offers all the benefits expected from a large university -- competitive programs, great facilities, a diverse student community and a variety of campus programming -- all offered in an accessible, intimate, and close-knit atmosphere.

Millersville University's School of Education

The primary mission of Millersville University's School of Education is the preparation of future teachers in a variety of specialty areas, as well as the support and professional development of in-service teachers in all fields.

The School of Education, nationally recognized by its NCATE accreditation, offers a Master of Education in 13 different disciplines as well as offering an array of Post Baccalaureate Teaching Certification and Post Master's Supervisory Certification programs.

The school offers multiple programs in six departments, not only in teacher preparation and in the preparation of other school personnel, but in other critical needs disciplines as well, including programs in school counseling and school psychology (accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists).

Millersville University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences

In Millersville's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Master of Arts or Master of Education program options are available in English, foreign languages, art, and history.

Students studying the liberal arts learn to define and clarify questions, gather relevant information, critically analyze and evaluate information, devise and revise resolutions, communicate conclusions, and persuade and collaborate with others.

The Master of Social Work degree, accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE), permits graduates to work in a variety of human service programs and agencies in an advanced clinical or administrative capacity. The flexibility of the social work degree provides graduates with many options as they pursue their careers in the helping professions.

Millersville University's School of Science and Mathematics

The School of Science and Mathematics has a long history of providing students with the rigorous education needed for success in contemporary scientific, healthcare, and mathematical fields.

Graduates of the majors housed within this school go on to successful careers in industry, business, research, and teaching and are consistently accepted by some of the best graduate and professional schools in the nation.

The school is proud to offer a growing Master of Science in Nursing program, accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, a cutting-edge Master of Education program for math educators, as well as a fully-online Master of Science program in Emergency Management.

The MSEM program was developed in response to a nationwide need identified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for well-trained individuals to plan and coordinate emergency management efforts. Graduates are prepared to serve in a variety of positions in the emergency management field and to attain certified emergency manager status.

Graduate Assistantships at Millersville University

Graduate assistantships are available each year to full-time graduate students (minimum of nine graduate credit hours) and include a waiver of tuition (24 credits/year) as well as a stipend, paid bi-weekly throughout the academic year.

Graduate Student Research at Millersville University

The university hosts a graduate student research symposium annually. Grants are available to support graduate student research. Grant funds can be used for direct research expenses including: data purchase or collection, materials and supplies, travel to libraries or museums, and other eligible expenses, including research presentations at professional conferences.
