The Master's Program in Business Administration in Education Leadership

The MSOE M.B.A. in Education Leadership degree program follows an innovative new model of school leader preparation, which will prepare a new breed of school leader to enact transformational change in Wisconsin schools.

The M.B.A. in Education Leadership degree program is designed to provide the business knowledge and leadership development that is missing from traditional master's in education programs.

The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation is guiding development of the new M.B.A. in Education Leadership degree program at MSOE. The new M.B.A. degree program will prepare leaders who can become outstanding principals leading schools and districts in Wisconsin, and bring American schools up to world-class levels of performance.

Program Details

As a pioneering program within the Woodrow Wilson M.B.A. Fellowship in Education Leadership, the M.B.A. in Education Leadership program at MSOE incorporates the knowledge, skills, and dispositions derived from curriculum standards for graduate management education and school leader preparation. The andragogy-based delivery approach is built on an innovative course model that arranges new content in a way that mirrors application. This allows the learner to apply the content in class-based case analysis, culminating in authentic integration of new knowledge through a project-based field practicum during which competencies are shaped and assessed.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering Advantage

Students enrolled in the Master of Business Administration in Education Leadership degree program at MSOE receive a practical, applied, professional graduate education that allows them to immediately apply new to work challenges both during the program and at program completion. A longitudinal study of mid-career MSOE graduates shows that they continue to outperform their cohorts in both salary and job satisfaction.

Small class sizes and professor-led classes are another component of the MSOE advantage. Students enjoy great access to professors, allowing for greater feedback and improving students' mastery of core concepts. In addition, the online blended format and tech-savvy faculty members make it easy to communicate with professors via email, Skype, text, and other platforms.

A Business Background in the Classroom

MSOE faculty members have relevant, extensive experience outside the classroom and laboratory, and have often worked in industry for many years before coming to MSOE to teach. Professors share their experience and expertise in the classroom, and also help students apply new learning to address business problems during class-related field projects. The close relationships between MSOE faculty members and regional industry helps maintain a current, relevant curriculum, while providing a "living laboratory" in which students apply new skills and knowledge.

In addition to significant industry experience, the majority of MSOE graduate faculty members hold doctoral degrees in specialized fields of study that enhance their ability to share information in the classroom.

A Modern Campus

Milwaukee School of Engineering's 20 acre campus is located in the east shore neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, just minutes from Lake Michigan. Campus features include an athletic field and easy-access parking.

"The Princeton Review" has named MSOE as one of the nation's most environmentally friendly colleges. The solar panels atop the Campus Center develop renewable clean energy.

MSOE's graduates enjoy the highest average starting and mid-career salaries of any Wisconsin university according to Payscale Inc. Affordable Colleges Online ranks MSOE in the top 1% of U.S. colleges as measured by return on investment (ROI). MSOE degree-holders out-earn non-degree holders by at least one million dollars.
