Mississippi State University - Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Sciences - Overview
Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Sciences Distance Learning Program
Students from around the world can earn Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Sciences degrees from Mississippi State University through distance learning.
Interested students can learn about chemistry, biology, and geosciences from noted science experts. All courses in the 36-hour, two-year program are taught online, with the exception of the final 8-10 day capstone course, which is planned to be held on the campus of Mississippi State University.
Students will each choose one of the following concentration areas: biology, chemistry, or geosciences.
Students must complete all courses (21 hours) listed below for the concentrations of their choice.
Students must also complete at least 5 courses (15 hours) from the other science disciplines included in the MAIS program. These 5 courses can all be in the same subject or students can mix and match as they desire. Students will need to work with the program coordinator to make sure they have met all prerequisites.
Each semester (except for the spring 2nd year), students will enroll in the scheduled courses for their concentrations and elective courses of their choosing from the other science disciplines included in the MAIS program.
Please note: A student may not enroll in Year I and Year II of a concentration within the same semester. A student must complete all first year courses before advancing to second year courses.
All courses offered in the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Sciences program are fully accredited through Mississippi State University by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
