A Military Friendly Program
The Distance MSIS program at Mississippi State University is military friendly.
Previously, the MSIS Military Program was designed to assist National Guard members from the state of Mississippi seeking to improve their education. Now, this special section is available to military in the entire Southeastern United States.
Core classes with seats (virtual) for military students in the Southeastern United States are available at a special military rate. For this purpose the Southeast is defined as states which host universities included in the Southeastern Conference. This includes military in Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
The Distance MSIS does not require any on campus visits. This makes it easier for military members to continue their education while deployed or after changing stations.
The university's new Center for America's Veterans provides veterans with many services. The G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Center for America's Veterans was established to provide higher education opportunities to veterans through programs and services unavailable from other institutions.
