In many disciplines, students have opportunities to participate in faculty-led research and thesis projects to enhance their graduate portfolios. While preparing students for successful careers in leadership roles, Monmouth University believes that a major goal of higher education is to also help students develop values. These values include a sense of citizenship and social responsibility that enables graduates to contribute actively to the societies in which they live. Academic programs and personal development opportunities at Monmouth prepare students to take the lead in an increasingly complex, multicultural world.

An Education Without Borders. A Home Away From Home.

Monmouth offers a high-tech learning environment with professors who meet the highest standards for teaching and academic excellence. The University is located less than two kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean on a 156-acre campus in the safe, suburban town of West Long Branch, New Jersey. The campus is just over one hour from both New York City and Philadelphia, providing easy access to world-class cultural and social enrichment experiences.

The University recognizes that there are challenges for students from other parts of the world adjusting to daily life at an American university. Part of a Monmouth experience is the support of a campus community that prides itself on individual attention, beginning from the first point of contact and continuing well after the formal education process ends. The Graduate Admission Office has staff and tools designed to assist in the enrollment process. The University also has a wide variety of financial aid options, including a limited number of assistantships and fellowships, which provide scholarship assistance to students who have demonstrated academic achievement in the completion of their baccalaureate degrees.

The online International Student Resource Center helps prospective and current students by listing important contact information, links, and forms to streamline the application and enrollment process. The Web address for the International Student Resource Center is www.monmouth.edu/international.

Once at Monmouth, international students will find themselves part of a community of nearly 100 students, representing 28 countries around the world, who are studying abroad. Special orientation sessions are conducted each semester to assist new international students. The Office of International Student Services also assists international students with all matters, including obtaining student visas, practical training, changes of status, advising, counseling, housing, homesickness, culture shock, obtaining driver's licenses and Social Security cards, and on-campus employment. The office works with other administrative offices and academic departments on campus to ensure smooth adjustments and transitions for students.

The International Club provides another resource of support to welcome all foreign students and help them adjust to the new culture and the new life in the United States. In the club, students discuss their various countries of origin, their ways of life, and their cultures, and they share their customs, ideas, and values. The International Club also conducts social events like holiday parties, luncheons, trips, seminars, and workshops.

An education from Monmouth University enables students to pursue their educational goals and realize their full potential for making significant contributions to their communities and societies. The Monmouth experience is more than just the small classes that allow for strong student-faculty dialogue. Students are inducted into true academic communities with continuous support. Students who complete their degrees benefit from continued relationships with the Monmouth family.
