Nichols College is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning known for its career-focused business education programs. More than 1,500 full-time and part-time students are enrolled in Nichols undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs.

Located in Dudley, central Massachusetts, the Nichols College MBA program is world-class and recognized as one of the state's top graduate business programs. The Nichols College MSOL program is designed for individuals who aspire to leadership roles within profit, non-profit or public organizations. Nichols College is accredited by the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

The school reports that approximately 4 in 10 graduates of Nichols College will become a business owner, entrepreneur, or CEO, and that 91 percent of 2011 graduates were employed within 6 months of graduation.

Graduate Programs in Business Overview

Nichols College awards 2 business degrees through its Graduate and Professional Studies Division: the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL).

Designed to help working adults balance education, occupation, and personal commitments, the curriculum enables students to take courses online from home, in a traditional classroom on the Dudley main campus, at one of the school's satellite campuses, or in a classroom/online combination (hybrid format).

Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program at Nichols College is career-focused and offers four areas of emphasis and a General MBA Option. The areas of emphasis include: Accounting/Finance, International Management, Marketing, and Management. Course content emphasizes real-world issues that directly impact professional life.

MBA students must complete 36 credit hours (12 courses) which includes 8 MBA core courses and 4 courses from a specific area of emphasis. Students choosing the General MBA Option can take four (4) courses from any area of emphasis. The required courses for all MBA students are: Organizational Behavior, Leadership Experience, Management Accounting and Control, Financial Decision Making, Marketing Strategies, Operations Management, Business, Government and the Global Economy, and Strategic Management.

The 3-credit hour Strategic Management course which is taken in the student's final semester is a capstone experience that provides students with an opportunity to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge and skills acquired in previous functional courses. Integration is accomplished by the analysis of cases reflecting complex management problems involving formulation and implementation of strategy which cross several functional areas.

Master of Science in Organizational Leadership

The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) degree from Nichols College prepares students to navigate within an evolving business climate as successful business leaders. The program blends theory and application, focusing on innovation, change management, and ethical leadership.

MSOL students may be required to complete between 9 and 12 credit hours of Common Skills coursework, which includes, Accounting for Managers, Marketing Management, and Management Theory. As one of the requirements for the business essentials core, students must earn six credit hours through Organizational Behavior and The Leadership Experience. The leadership core curriculum of 18 credit hours comprises The Ethical Leader, Global Leadership, Change and Innovation Management, Negotiation and Conflict Management, Creative Decision Making, and Leadership Priorities: Maintaining Balance and Creativity.

Taken in the final semester, a 3-credit hour Action Research Project is a practical capstone experience that provides students with an opportunity to apply knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired during the MSOL degree program. The project centers on research and evaluation of an organizational problem, issue, or need. Students develop proposals, conduct research, and develop recommendations and implementation plans.

4+1 Accelerated Program Students Earn Dual BSBA/MBA

Nichols College offers a 4 + 1 Accelerated Program that enables undergraduate students studying at any college or university in the Colleges of Worcester Consortium to apply for study at Nichols for their fifth year. These students graduate with both bachelor degrees in business administration (BSBA) and MBA.

Students enrolled in the 4+1 program may live on campus, participate in Nichols athletics and take part in campus community activities. They may also take courses online. Full-time accelerated MBA students must complete 30 credit hours (10 courses) within their fifth year, including the 8 required courses and 4 electives from their chosen area of emphasis.

Among the Nichols College alumni who have become accomplished leaders in business are Keith T. Anderson, Chief Investment Officer of Soros Management Fund, overseeing $24 billion; James L. Dunbar, Founder and Chairman of Dunbar Armored Inc., the country's largest independent armored car company; and Peter L. Lynch, former President and CEO of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., ranking 340 on the "Fortune 500" list.

Convenient Campus Locations

Nichols College is located on "The Hill" on more than 200 acres of rolling hills in Dudley, a small central Massachusetts community just 20 minutes south of Worcester. The campus is within an hour's drive of Boston, Springfield, Hartford, and Providence.

Graduate and undergraduate courses are also offered at convenient satellite campuses in the Worcester, MA area.
