A Leader in Technology

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) is one of the top historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) in the country. Today, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is home to intensive research programs, award-winning faculty members, and community-focused initiatives. As a leader in technology, the university is the first HBCU to receive the prestigious National Science Foundation's Engineering Research Center (ERC) award for biomedical engineering and nano-bio research.

The "U.S. News and World Report" ranking has recognized North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as the top public historically black college and university in the country.

The NC A&T School of Technology

Approximately 800 students enroll annually to participate in the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University School of Technology.

The School of Technology partners with private industry to bridge the gap between classroom education and real world technological challenges. The undergraduate programs reflect the school¿s approach of offering degrees in applied engineering technology, construction management, electronics technology (with an emphasis on information technology), geomatics, graphic communication systems, environmental health and safety, and motorsports technology.

The School of the Technology is home to advanced facilities that reflect a real-world orientation. These include: a Virtual Computing Laboratory, a Construction Management Planning Laboratory, a Soil Testing Laboratory, a Rapid Prototyping Laboratory, and a Cisco Networking Laboratory.

The School of Technology offers three (3) master's degree programs: a Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Technology; a Master of Science (M.S.) in Technology Management; and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Technology Education.

M.S. in Information Technology

The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University School of Technology offers a Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Technology degree that focuses on cloud computing; computer and network security; enterprise computing; high performance computing; information retrieval; knowledge discovery and data mining; and wireless networking.

Students may choose between a 30-semester hour thesis option and a course work option.

The "U.S. News and World Report" consistently ranks this program in the top 20 on-line computer information technology programs in the country.

M.S. in Information Technology Graduate Success

The M.S. in Information Technology degree prepares graduates for employment in technical and managerial roles in all sectors of the technical workforce. Students obtain positions with IBM, EMC, BB&T, Accenture, CISCO, USAA, Dell, Fidelity Investments, Bank of America, and state and federal agencies. These students are employed as systems analysts, network and database administers, project managers, programmers, and IT consultants.

M.S. in Technology Management

The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University School of Technology offers a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Technology Management that focuses on information security; multiple phase aerodynamics; operational research; energy security and sustainability; advanced manufacturing; supply chain management; global positioning systems; graphics and design; construction management, environmental health and safety.

Students may choose between either a thesis or a course work option. The program is ideal for students seeking managerial positions in technology-focused companies and government agencies.

M.S. in Technology Management Graduate Success

Graduates of the M.S degree program in Technology Management have considerable success in both the public and the private sectors -- as well as in the pursuit of academic careers. NC A&T program graduates work for John Deere, IBM, MTV Networks, Northrop Grumman, Alcoa, and many other thriving regional, national, and international companies.

M.A. in Technology Education

The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University School of Technology offers a Master of Arts degree in Technology Education that focuses on pre-engineering education, student learning, curriculum integration, student assessment, parental involvement, supervision and administration.

During the first stage of the program, students earn their teaching license. The curriculum is aligned with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education programs. During the second stage of the program, students focus on teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

Financial Assistance at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University

The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University provides financial assistance and stipends to students through teaching assistantships, research assistantships, and fellowships. Students in the M.A. Technology Education degree program may also be eligible for reduced tuition through the NC Model Teacher Consortium. Various external agencies, including corporations, government agencies, and foundation, offer fellowships and stipends to students pursuing advanced degrees in STEM disciplines.

Founded in 1891 as a land-grant university, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is located on a beautiful 200-acre campus in Greensboro, North Carolina. NC A&T played a critical role in the Civil Rights Movement and today produces the largest number of African American engineers in the nation.
