About the Master of Business Administration

The DeVos Graduate School at Northwood University produces M.B.A. holders who go on to become leaders in today's global, free-enterprise society.

Students partake in an educational and transformational journey that is rooted in the Northwood Idea, Northwood University's educational outcomes, and a unique, student-driven learning model.

The DeVos experience creates highly effective leaders through a process of personal and professional transformation based on an integrative curriculum and student-driven learning methodology.

M.B.A. degree programs are offered in a variety of formats and geographies. All programs share specific academic student outcomes of achieving highly developed business acumen, critical thinking, and personal effectiveness skills.

An M.B.A. degree from Northwood University transforms students into highly effective executives and managers with the skills to: find and fix problems; identify and capitalize on opportunities; create a vision and inspire others to follow; and raise the performance of subordinates, peers, and superiors.

M.B.A. Degree Program Case-Based Learning

Students will experience rich academic study using a case-based study methodology. The industry leading faculty members facilitate cohort learning experiences. Students in a cohort learn through interactive discussions, research, and presentations.

The student based discussions use cases that create classroom experiences that are similar to work environments. Students become active partners in learning. The Simulations force students to deal with the distractions and conflicting data experienced at work.

M.B.A. Degree Program Cohorts

A cohort, as defined, means a group or company; a companion or associate. DeVos M.B.A. degree program candidates use cohorts to instill the sense of team that is necessary in leaders. With that in mind, the cohort experience allows students access to like-minded individuals with the same goal in mind. They will develop strong peer networks with many in their cohorts. This provides students with a continual sounding board and support network long after they graduate from DeVos.

M.B.A. Degree Program Options

To meet the needs of the future leaders of a global free-enterprise society, the DeVos Graduate School has multiple program options for candidates seeking M.B.A. degrees.

Accelerated M.B.A. Degree Program

The DeVos Accelerated M.B.A. degree program is a dynamic 12-month weekday, daytime curriculum. The curriculum is designed for students with varying levels of professional work experience and from an array of undergraduate disciplines.

Traditional M.B.A. Degree Program

The 24-month Traditional M.B.A. degree program is designed for working professionals who can make the time commitment during the day and are prepared to invest 12-18 hours per week for reading and preparation (in addition to attending classes), plus additional time to accommodate study group activities and contribution in and to the virtual classroom environment.

Evening M.B.A. Degree Program

The 24-month DeVos Evening M.B.A. degree program is designed for working professionals who can make the time commitment for one evening per week class schedule and are prepared to invest 12-18 hours per week for reading and preparation (in addition to attending classes), plus additional time to accommodate study group activities and contributions in and to the virtual classroom environment.

Weekend M.B.A. Degree Program

The 24-month DeVos Weekend M.B.A. degree program is designed for working professionals who can make the time commitment for 4 weekends per 8 week term (Friday, 6-9 pm; Saturday, 8 am -2 pm) and are prepared to invest 12-18 hours per week for reading and preparation (in addition to attending classes), plus additional time to accommodate study group activities and contribution in and to the virtual classroom environment.

About the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership

The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) is a degree program for professionals who recognize that individual and organizational success is about making a contribution.

Organizations are seeking innovative, high-performance professionals who have the skills and training to provide leadership -- the kind of leadership that manages change, inspires others achieve greatness, and drives the bottom line. The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) at Northwood University is designed to help students unleash the human potential within an organization while positioning them for professional advancement.

The MSOL offers participants the chance to prepare for personal and professional advancement for themselves, their communities, and their organizations. The program design examines the behaviors that facilitate effective personal and organizational leadership and learning, as well as collaborative problem-solving strategies and practices. Prospective students must have earned bachelor's degrees and have at least 3 years of work experience prior to enrolling in the program.

The program is ideal for individuals who want to upgrade their knowledge and skill-sets in a multi-disciplinary program and earn graduate credentials. Courses are offered by outstanding faculty members who are both practicing leaders in their fields and exceptional educators who bring real-world experience and opportunities into the learning environment. The program is offered using the online / virtual classroom incorporating asynchronous and synchronous learning technology to create a robust learning environment.

A Master of Science in Organizational Leadership prepares students to: synergize the power of peers and encourage positive change within an organization; make ethical leadership choices; master techniques of collaborative team communication; implement creative and cooperative problem-solving strategies; and use various intellectual and technical tools to foster competitive advantage.

Every location offers programs that exceed traditional curriculum standards by integrating technical business skills with the knowledge necessary to contribute to leadership roles in a changing global economy. The DeVos Graduate School of Northwood University has numerous locations including West Palm Beach, Florida; Midland, Grand Rapids, East Lansing, and Troy, Michigan; and Cedar Hill (Dallas), Texas.

4-Year B.B.A./M.B.A. Degree Program

The Northwood University 4 Year B.B.A./M.B.A. degree program is an intensive program of study for high-achieving, focused students.

Students accepted into the program that follow the program of study will be able complete their Bachelor of Business Administration degree program in 3 years and their Master of Business Administration degree program in 1 additional year. This program allows for and encourages students to participate in the Honors Program and co-curricular campus life programming like varsity athletics, Greek life, business clubs, and academic, service and social organizations while at Northwood University.
