Overview

Providence College Is a Private, Coed School Duly Accredited by NEASC and Pursuing AACSB Accreditation

Providence College (PC), in Providence, Rhode Island, is primarily a four-year college of the liberal arts and sciences, with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 3,700 men and women. It offers graduate programs in business, education, history, and theology. It is conducted under the auspices of the Order of Preachers of the Province of St. Joseph, commonly known as the Dominicans.

Founded in 1917 under an Act of Incorporation approved by the General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island, the college states in its charter: "No person shall be denied any of the privileges, honors or degrees of said college on account of the religious opinions he may entertain.''

Providence College is a coeducational equal-opportunity institution and is duly accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It is also a member of AACSB International and, wherever feasible, adheres to those principles as it offers special educational opportunities for night school, adult education, and continuing education to all sectors of the community.

Providence College's MBA Program Offers Theoretical Foundations for Building Healthy, Forward-Looking, Innovative Firms

Whether students are undergrads or already pursuing careers, a Providence College M.B.A. prepares them for real-world opportunities and challenges ahead. With a competitive program and real-world instruction, PC helps students master the high-level business concepts they need to succeed. Every course is planned to be a meaningful learning experience that will strengthen analytical skills, develop decision-making abilities, build confidence, and prepare students for a successful business career. The M.B.A. program incorporates the Providence College tradition of a well-rounded, interdisciplinary education. It emphasizes social and professional responsibility in addition to critical thinking and quantitative analysis. By adding in small classes and individualized attention, the M.B.A. program is uniquely PC.

Providence College recognizes the critically important challenge of "humanizing'' business administration programs, and one special means of accomplishing this is making the rolling open admissions to this program open to all undergraduate degrees. With new insights and perspectives from the humanities and arts, the "world of business" will no longer seem so one dimensional.

Financial Aid Packages, New Concentrations, Rolling Admissions Paint a Picture of PC Progress and Educational Quality

About half of Providence College's M.B.A. students have full-time employment. Students may apply for financial aid in the form of student loans, graduate assistantships, and tuition reimbursement from employers.

Rolling admissions offer the ultimate in educational flexibility, and at PC there's no need to wait until fall. Students can start their M.B.A. programs when it's convenient for them, in the fall, spring, or summer session. Because PC reviews applications all year long and offers core courses every semester, the college is ready when the students are. Those with strong academic backgrounds may take up to two M.B.A. courses before being formally accepted into the M.B.A. program.

Courses are offered in the late afternoon and evening from Monday through Thursday. Whether students are working or attending school full-time, Providence College offers flexibility with part-time and full-time schedules. Not only can students take as many courses as fit their schedules, they can develop a depth of knowledge in a particular area through one of two new interdisciplinary elective concentrations (international business or non-profit organizations) that cut across the business disciplines. Traditional elective concentrations in marketing, management, accounting, and finance are also available.

The 4-plus-1 Program, Mandatory Internships, First-Rate Faculty, and Other Opportunities Abound for PC M.B.A. Students

An innovative "4-plus-1 program" enables PC students to obtain early admission to the M.B.A. program. Eligible undergraduates begin their M.B.A. work immediately upon graduation and, with proper planning, complete an M.B.A. in one year. For students who complete a business degree at another college, they can apply prerequisite coursework at PC and still complete an M.B.A. in one year.

For students with limited work experience, full-time internships are a mandatory part of the core curriculum. The M.B.A. program has affiliations with regional organizations to make it possible to gain from experiential learning, obtaining the tools and hands-on career experience that can be used immediately.

M.B.A. professors are accessible and experienced. Students gain the advantage of multiple perspectives from faculty scholars, researchers, and business practitioners, in economical programs that can be finished through a variety of part-time and full-time schedules and arrangements. The varied experiences of the faculty mean that expertise is available in all concentrations.

In fact, the economical programs, combined with top faculty and flexible schedules, are what make a PC M.B.A. quite affordable and extremely competitive when compared to other M.B.A. programs.
