Sacred Heart University (SHU) is a Catholic university located in Fairfield, Connecticut. Founded in 1963, it is the second largest Catholic university in New England and the first Catholic University in the nation to be staffed by lay people.

SHU is recognized as an international leader in Catholic higher education. It is also known for its active, engaged learning environment and a faculty dedicated to personally fostering the development and success of students.

"The Princeton Review" ranks Sacred Heart University among the nation's best colleges and best business schools. Sacred Heart University's Graduate Experience

Sacred Heart University offers 18 Graduate programs through the College of Arts and Sciences, the John F. Welch College of Business, the College of Health Professions, and the Isabelle Farrington College of Education.

SHU's main campus is located in Fairfield, Connecticut, with international campuses in the Irish-speaking community of Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland and the only American-accredited MBA program in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

SHU's graduate programs were created to help students learn through both academic and hands-on applications. Many graduate programs are offered on either a full-time or part-time basis. The graduate student population at SHU exceeds 2200 full- and part-time students, with the following statistics : 70% female, 11% minority students, 34% studying full-time, Average age 32, 18% from out of state, and 4% international.

Outstanding Faculty, Small Classes

Sacred Heart University retains more than 210 full- and part-time faculty members with extensive experience in their respective fields. Faculty members at SHU work closely with graduate students. Classes are small, with a 13:1 student-faculty ratio, and an average class size of 22.

Tuition and Financial Aid at Sacred Heart University

Graduate tuition at Sacred Heart University varies by program.

Off-campus internship opportunities that provide tuition waivers or stipends are available on a competitive basis through the Office of Career Development. A limited number of research and staff assistantships are available to graduate students.

Teaching internships, which provide partial tuition waivers toward the teacher certification or the Master of Arts in Teaching program, are available in area school districts.

Financial aid in the form of federal student loan programs and deferred payment plans are available through the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

The main campus of Sacred Heart University is situated on 69 acres in Fairfield, Connecticut, which ranks among the top places to live in the Northeast in "Money Magazine." Convenient branch campuses for working adults are located in Stamford and Griswold, Connecticut.
