Overview

Offering accredited, non-clinical, M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs and certificate programs in integrative health, Saybrook's Mind-Body Medicine (MBM) programs are intellectually challenging, powerfully practical, and personally and socially transformative. As a working professional in the healthcare field, students find meaningful ways to apply what they're learning whether they are:

- Clinicians who wish to expand medical practices to include such techniques as biofeedback, hypnosis, health and wellness coaching, counseling, nutrition, fitness, chronic pain management, self-healing, or mutual support networks;

- Researchers who plan to study the next generation of rigorously tested mind-body medicine techniques or develop innovative methods of health education and healthcare delivery;

- Healthcare administrators who want to integrate mind-body medicine techniques into conventional care environments, from community clinics to assisted living facilities, from corporate fitness organizations to non-profit recreational facilities.

Saybrook offers the following integrative health programs:

- MS Mind-Body Medicine

- PhD Mind-Body Medicine, Healthcare Practice Specialization

- PhD Mind-Body Medicine, Healthcare Research Specialization

- PhD Mind-Body Medicine, Healthcare Systems Specialization

- PhD Mind-Body Medicine, Integrative Mental Health Specialization

- Non-Degree Certificates

Saybrook's training programs in biofeedback and hypnosis are designed to prepare students for certification by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), respectively.

Beyond that, Saybrook is committed to helping students develop as a whole person - mind, body, and spirit - to achieve their full potential. This commitment grows from Saybrook's deep roots in a rich heritage of humanistic, existential, transpersonal, and phenomenological psychology. Key founders and early contributors to the Saybrook tradition include such innovative thinkers as Carl Rogers, Rollo May, Abraham Maslow, James Bugental, Charlotte Buhler, and Virginia Satir.
