Springfield College's graduate school is world renowned for educating leaders in their fields for more than 125 years. Springfield College is a small college in New England with a big reputation. It is ranked in the 2011 edition of "America's Best Colleges" in the top tier of Best Regional Universities -- North Region by U.S. News Media Group and is a premier Leadership Development Center of the YMCA of the USA. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and its programs are also accredited by various professional associations.

Master's degree programs include the master of business administration (MBA) program, with concentrations in nonprofit management and business management, and also programs in art therapy/counseling, education, exercise science and sport studies, human services, occupational therapy, physical education, physician assistant, psychology and counseling, rehabilitation counseling and services, social work, and sport management and recreation. Springfield College also offers a doctor of physical therapy degree program (D.P.T.), a doctor of psychology (Psy.D.) program in counseling psychology, with concentrations in athletic counseling, clinical mental health counseling, and marriage and family therapy, and a Ph.D. program in physical education, with optional concentrations in sport psychology and exercise physiology.

Faculty and Alumni Have Been World Leaders in Their Fields

A faculty of experts in their fields, many with national and international reputations, provides close personal attention to each graduate student. The student-to-faculty ratio is 13:1. There are 212 full-time faculty members, 80 percent of whom have earned the highest degrees in their fields.

Springfield College faculty members and alumni have been world-class leaders in their fields for more than 125 years. Faculty members have achieved numerous breakthroughs in research physiology, and the pioneering continues today with faculty and student research on kidney disease, dieting, E. coli, and more.

Faculty members and alumni have been founders of physical education movements in China, Eastern Europe, and the Philippines; Gay Games; Jacob's Pillow; and national and international professional organizations in sports medicine, physical education, and recreation.

Alumni invented the games of basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer, and wrote the first guidelines for aquatic lifesaving. Other faculty members and alumni have been leaders in developing the modern Olympics, educating YMCA professionals, and advancing intercollegiate sports for women.

Award-winning Facilities Support Academics

Award-winning facilities support Springfield College's top-quality academics. The campus is technologically up-to-date with wireless zones, smart classrooms, computer labs, videoconferencing, a conference center, and more.

The new Wellness and Recreation Complex and Athletic Training/Exercise Science facility has been cited as among the finest of its kind nationally. As a graduate student, you'll have access to the two-story complex, which features cardio and weight-training space and the latest equipment, a climbing and bouldering wall, four multi-purpose teaching/activity spaces, fitness testing laboratories, and more.

The new Field House, with the same Mondo track surface as in the Bird's Nest National Stadium in Beijing, includes a six-lane running track surrounding four multi-purpose courts, as well as strength and conditioning facilities. The natatorium, outdoor track, and a range of playing fields are also available to graduate students.

The recently renovated Schoo-Bemis Science Center is state of the art. The newly renovated Fuller Arts Center is the site of vibrant visual and performing arts programs.

On-campus housing is available, and the food service is ranked by ARAMARK as its best in the United States.

Financial aid is available to graduate students through fellowships and assistantships.

Western Massachusetts Offers Rich Array of Social, Recreational, Cultural, and Athletic Opportunities

Springfield College is ideally situated in the New England on Lake Massasoit in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts.

The valley is vibrant with social, cultural, and athletic activities, in addition to 12 other colleges and universities. Nearby towns offer a variety of attractions including trendy shops, galleries, theater productions, nightclubs, and restaurants. The Berkshire Hills offer hiking, skiing, biking, and other outdoor activities.

Springfield is the fourth-largest Massachusetts city. Boston is 90 miles east, New York City 130 miles south, Vermont 45 miles north, and Bradley International Airport 20 miles south.
