The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is widely regarded as one of the top communications schools in the country. The prestigious Newhouse name opens doors for students while they study at the school and throughout their careers after they graduate.

The school offers ten professional master's degrees spanning all areas of the communications industry: Advertising; Arts Journalism; Broadcast and Digital Journalism; Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism; New Media Management; Photography; Public Relations; Television, Radio and Film; Documentary Film and History; and Public Diplomacy. The Documentary Film and History and Public Diplomacy programs are joint programs with Syracuse's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, also a prestigious and highly-regarded school.

In general, the Newhouse School of Public Communications' master's programs can be completed in 12-14 months. The school also offers an academic master's program in Media Studies, a doctoral program in Mass Communications and a distance-learning executive education master's program in Communications Management.

Newhouse School is housed in a three-building facility, one of the world's most complete centers for the study of mass communications. An all-digital environment, it provides students with all the tools needed to master the skills of their chosen profession-even as that profession continues to change at a rapid pace. The school commits more than $300,000 a year to equipment and facility upgrades.

Specialized Facilities and Equipment as well as Numerous Prestigious Guest Speakers Provide an Edge

Among the specialized facilities and tools students have access to are a collaborative media room, where students from all disciplines come together to create multimedia products; an advertising and public relations lab that simulates a professional agency setting; photography labs and equipment; video and audio editing booths and equipment; studios for music recording and sound production; television studios with a master control room and a broadcast news set; graphics labs; and extensive computer labs.

Located in Syracuse, New York, at the center of New York State, the Newhouse School of Public Communications is within easy driving distance of New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The school regularly hosts industry leaders (many of whom are alumni), who come to speak with students or lead classes. The Newhouse Career Development Center and 20,000 Alumni Help Graduates Succeed

Syracuse University and the Newhouse School of Public Communications also serve as a hub for employers and job recruiters. The Newhouse Career Development Center (CDC) hosts an annual career event, when some 50-60 national communications companies send representatives to campus to interview and recruit students for jobs and internships. The CDC assists students in developing job and internship search skills through seminars and workshops, and distributes job and internship leads.

One of the Syracuse University and the Newhouse School of Public Communications' most valuable assets is its alumni, who are over 20,000 strong.
