The graduate school's Washington, D.C., location affords its students and faculty the unique opportunity to conduct academic research on and collaborate with U.S. government agencies, multilateral development banks, non-profit organizations, and thousands of national and multinational corporations. From international business to real-estate management, the faculty is regularly engaged in a variety of provocative research activities at the school's four major research facilities.

Recent research projects at the Center for International Business Education and Research addressed "Globalization & Transnational Terrorism: An Empirical Investigation" and" Public-Private Partnerships: Addressing Global Challenges and Opportunities." GWSB Provides Graduate Business Programs and Specialized MBA Programs Customized to Graduate Students' Needs

The School of Business at George Washington University offers a variety of graduate MBA programs including a two-year full-time curriculum, a multi-year part-time option, a Global MBA, an accelerated MBA, and a curriculum that combines online and resident training. Graduate students can also pursue one of five specialized master's degrees in accountancy, finance, information systems, project management and tourism administration. Within the Master's of Science in Information Systems, students can choose from graduate business program concentrations in management information systems or information systems development.

GWSB's graduate business programs are highly integrated and are taught using the team-based approach whereby assigned work is completed in five- and six-person teams. To ensure the most effective educational experience for MBA program students, faculty members typically utilize a combination of lecture, case method, project work, simulations, client work, group papers, and presentations.

Students accepted into GWSB's graduate business programs interact with the business world at a very high level. GWSB is routinely brought in to consult with Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors and America Online. MBA students learn the latest finance software in the school's Financial Markets Trading Lab, sponsored by NASDAQ. Students pursuing a Master of Science in Tourism Administration degree have the opportunity to visit Cuba or another tropical island to study sustainable tourism. Global MBA students can choose to study international business in London or Paris.
