Trine University -- A Regional Leader

Established in 1884 in Angola, Indiana, Trine University is a regional leader that trains its students in the real-world skills they need to advance their careers. Within 6 months of graduation, 92% of graduates find jobs within their fields. Trine University is regularly ranked among the Best Colleges in the Midwest by both "The Princeton Review" and "U.S. World and News Report."

Trine grants associate, bachelor's and master's degrees online, on campus, and at many regional educational centers. With more than 60 student organizations, competitive intercollegiate sports teams, and small class sizes, Trine offers an active, close-knit atmosphere that allows students to thrive.

Trine also offers a doctoral program in Physical Therapy. Trine has received accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission and is seeking candidacy from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

The School of Professional Studies

The School of Professional Studies at Trine University offers a convenient, flexible, and competitively priced education to adult students. The school offers 8-week accelerated courses that can be completed at one of eight a regional education centers or entirely online.

Undergraduate Degrees for Working Adults

Trine offers a Bachelor degree program in many areas of study, including applied management, communication, computer science, criminal justice, emergency management, engineering, engineering technology, general studies, and psychology, to name a few.

Tine University also awards Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. Students can major in accounting, auctioneering, entrepreneurship, healthcare management, human resource management, hospitality and tourism management, and management.

Master's Degrees from Trine University

Trine University awards Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in criminal justice, leadership, and engineering technology.

Students pursuing M.S. in Criminal Justice degrees may concentrate in emergency management, forensic psychology, law, and public administration. Students may also receive MSCJ Certificates after completing 6 classes for a total of 18 credit hours.

The School of Professional Studies also offers the Lou Holtz Master of Science in Leadership (MSL) degree program. Students may concentrate in biomedical regulatory affairs, business administration, financial management, healthcare systems studies, human resource management, instructional leadership - higher education, international studies, nonprofit organizational studies, sport management, strategic foresight and entrepreneurship, and sustainable and environmental management.

Trine University also awards an M.S. in Engineering Technology degree program, at its Angola, Indiana Campus.

The Ph.D. in Physical Therapy

The Trine University offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) program that prepares students to become successful physical therapists. Students receive clinical training in hospitals and clinics through its membership with the Life Science Consortium of Northern Indiana. Its newly renovated facility in Fort Wayne is equipped with leading-edge anatomy labs, clinical labs, and classrooms.

Students may be admitted to the program as incoming freshman, taking 6 years to complete the program if they have grade point averages (GPAs) of 3.5 or higher, graduated within the top 25% of their classes, or have SAT scores above 1150 or ACT scores above 25. Students with bachelor's degrees must have GPAs of 3.0 or above. They must have completed science course requirements.

The university has obtained accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is seeking candidacy from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

A Highly-Credential Faculty with Real-World Experience

The small 15 to 1 student-faculty member ratio, coupled with an emphasis on personal attention, means instructors provide support to individual students. Faculty members bring both workplace and educational experience into the classroom.

For example, Dr. Max Baumgartner, dean of the School of Health Sciences and the director of the DPT program, is an ABPTS-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. He has 13 years of academic experience and 8 years of clinical experience.

Admission to the School of Professional Studies at Trine University

Applicants to the undergraduate and graduate programs available through the School of Professional Studies at Trine University fill out the graduate application and provide letters of recommendation. International applicants to the Trine Virtual Campus (TVC) must have TOEFL iBT scores of 79 or paper-based scores of 550, or they must have IELTS scores of Band 6.5.

Financial Assistance for the Trine University School of Professional Studies

Many scholarships and financial aid programs are available to Trine University students studying at the School of Professional Studies. In addition, the school waives application fees. Trine University also offers 10% off tuition for military personal and their dependent spouses.


The School of Professional Studies is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association

Graduation from a physical therapist education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; phone; 703-706-3245; is necessary for eligibility to sit for the licensure examination, which is required in all states. Trine University is seeking accreditation of a new physical therapist education program from CAPTE. The program will submit an Application for Candidacy, which is the formal application required in the pre-accreditation stage. Submission of this document does not assure that the program will be granted Candidate for Accreditation status. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status is required prior to implementation of the professional phase of the program; therefore, no students may be enrolled in professional courses until Candidate for Accreditation status has been achieved. Further, though achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status signifies satisfactory progress toward accreditation, it does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation.

Trine University's programs in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
