Troy University's Master of Adult Education

Troy University was founded in 1887 under the motto "Educate the Mind to Think, the Heart to Feel and the Body to Act." Those founding principles are just as true today. Troy not only prepares students to be successful in their chosen careers but also challenges students to become lifelong learners. It is in that spirit that the university developed one of its newest graduate degree programs -- the Master of Adult Education.

Available in both online and classroom settings, the Master of Adult Education program prepares students to meet the unique requirements of adult learners. Through the program, students gain a clear understanding of the best methodologies for adult learners, as well as the challenges students may face later in life. Graduates of the program will be equipped to develop curricula that meet the needs, desires, motivations, and capabilities of adult learners; conduct, evaluate, and incorporate research relevant to the field of adult education; and adopt a philosophy of education that will translate into successful learning experiences for adult students.

Troy's Master of Adult Education program offers 2 concentrations: "Curriculum and Instructional Design" and "Leadership Studies." The "Curriculum and Instructional Design" concentration prepares students with the skills necessary to design and implement instruction at multiple levels including community, post-secondary, workplace or government levels. The "Leadership Studies" concentration emphasizes the development of 21st century leadership and focuses on developing leaders who are globally-minded, technologically savvy, and able to generate knowledge from real-world solutions. The "Leadership Studies" concentration is designed for professionals who desire to develop leadership skills that can be applied in a variety of settings and situations, including private, non-profit, military, and healthcare industries.

Whether students are seeking to meet the unique instructional needs of the adult learner or to develop leadership skills necessary to rise to the top in today's highly competitive marketplace, Troy University's Master of Adult Education is the right choice.
