Overview

Summer Programs and Opportunities Contribute to Price's World-Class M.B.A., Especially for the Price, Dunham and Corporate Scholars

Of critical importance to the graduate students in Price College's M.B.A. program are the summer opportunities for hands-on learning. During the summer, students can avail themselves of internship opportunities and other summer programs, both in the U.S. and abroad. The individual mentoring afforded all students helps to ensure that the summer opportunities complement and expand upon each student's unique field of professional interest. In some cases, students returning from their summer programs will have offers of full-time employment.

The Price Scholars Program selects as many as 9 students to spend a summer in New York City, while taking evening courses at NYU's Stern School and a seminar at Columbia University. During the day, Price Scholars fulfill a valuable internship in the city. The Price Scholars Program requires an application process that is competitive, but students have all expenses paid for these important summer opportunities.

The Dunham Scholars Program was created and funded to provide uniquely valuable summer programs for 4 leading M.B.A. students. Each summer a group is chosen to acquire unique international experiences by continuing their studies abroad. Dunham Scholars also benefit greatly from the internship opportunities that are a core element of the program, which enable them to work at some of the world's leading firms. Dunham Scholars spend their summer in London, working as interns in the financial district or an appropriate corporate setting, and taking a course at the prestigious London School of Economics. Candidates face a competitive application procedure. All student expenses are paid in full.

The M.B.A. Corporate Scholars Program, located in Dallas, Texas, offers top-performing M.B.A. students outstanding internship opportunities, interaction with regional executives and alumni mentorship. As Corporate Scholars, students also serve as ambassadors for the University of Oklahoma over the course of the summer.

Price's M.B.A. Program Produces Effective Professionals, Not Just M.B.A. Degrees

The M.B.A. program at the Price College of Business offers the highest level of professional development. Because the aim of the M.B.A. degree program is to prepare students to meet each and every requirement of the professional financial or business careerist, new students begin with the M.B.A. Prelude Week, which focuses on developing the broadest range of soft skills while defining the traits that are sought by recruiters.

At the close of the first academic year, students take on their first summer internships, at home or abroad, to obtain hands-on experience. Throughout the entire M.B.A. program, students work closely with the Student Support Center, where they find assistance with their job searches and entry into the professional workforce. With a curriculum that includes hearing from many experienced outside speakers, alumni, and corporate representatives, the Price College M.B.A. degree represents the best in business and financial expertise and identifies the holder as a thoroughly prepared professional. Students in the M.B.A. program learn about balancing their careers and personal lives, founding a company, leading meetings, making effective presentations, and introducing themselves and their capabilities to a growing list of potential employers.

Of key importance are practical advice, pragmatic assistance, and a genuine interest in assisting students in securing solid employment offers after getting their M.B.A. degree. Students learn about strict, honest self-assessment, salary negotiations, group work dynamics, and interview techniques, so that upon finishing the M.B.A. program they are prepared to move into full-time employment. With specializations available in energy, entrepreneurship, finance, management information systems, and risk management, a Price College M.B.A. degree is the strongest possible start.

Price's M.B.A. Students Start Their Career Development and Planning from Day One of the Career-Centric M.B.A. Program

The Price College philosophy puts students' lives and careers at the center of the educational process. Career development begins on "Day One" of the first year, as students use honest self-appraisal to discover their unique abilities and the career paths appropriate to them. A teamwork mindset combined with individual goal-setting makes career training a natural process, allowing students to integrate their personal desires with the realities of group dynamics.

The global business community knows the value of teamwork, and the career training focus at Price keeps students on the cutting edge. First-year students are assigned to "cross-functional" peer groups whose members have diverse backgrounds, working experiences, and cultures. Career planning is enhanced by this rich mixture, and the approach imparts a high level of interactive competence. By strengthening such practical skills as time management, goal setting, and communications abilities, students are immersed in career development throughout the program.

The Price M.B.A. program makes its home in the Michael F. Price Hall on the University of Oklahoma's main campus. Because the facility has state-of-the-art technology and an environment of academic excellence and professionalism, the surroundings themselves aid students with their career planning.

Support is also available from the Graduate Programs Office and the Student Support Center, where career training opportunities are available year-round. Graduate computer labs and meeting facilities give students the tools they need to follow a career planning path to a fulfilling job after graduation. The Business Communication Center provides professional coaching that is invaluable for career development, while digital recording studios and computer workstations offer the latest in professional career training.
