Overview

Students of International and Development Economics Engage Directly With Developing Economies

In accordance with its commitment to global education, the University of San Francisco (USF) offers several master's programs related to international issues. Among these is the graduate program in International and Development Economics. The program combines the study of quantitative economics with a focus on issues pertaining to developing economies. International and Development Economics students participate in an intensive overseas research internship. Field study research involves internships coordinated with the help of professors, universities, or organizations in countries such as Guatemala, the Philippines, India, Uganda, and Kazakhstan; but students may also identify internships in other areas of the world. This experience allows students to gain firsthand experience of market forces in developing countries while collecting data that can become part of the final research project.
