How to Apply
Once you've decided on a private education, the next step is to apply. Most schools have January or February deadlines, so it's a good idea to get started in early November. As you go through the process, there are a few things you can expect. Read on for an introduction to each element of the application process.
An In-Person Interview
Ideally, personal interviews should happen early in the process. When you plan campus visits, request one. Your child (or you!) may be nervous, but remind them that everyone feels this way - it's normal.
An Application Essay
Most applications will also require an essay on an assigned topic. Let your child take the lead in composing it. Admission committees are interested in your child's ability to organize their thoughts and explore a topic.
Other Requirements
Additional application requirements may include:
- School records
- Teacher recommendations
- A corrected English assignment
- An application fee
- Medical records
Don't Know Where to Start?
The application process is a chance to explore your child's abilities and interests, not an academic litmus test. Take this approach and you'll set the stage for a better experience, wherever they go.
