What is the Sweepstakes?
The Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes begins on November 1, 2006 and ends September 15, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. (ET). The Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes is free to enter and is not based on completing a financial transaction.
Who is eligible to enter and how do you enter?
Entry is open to individuals who are legal residents of the United States. Entrants must be high school students whose anticipated graduation date is spring 2007, spring 2008, or spring 2009 and who plan to begin attending college in fall 2007, fall 2008, or fall 2009 or the parents of such high school students may enter on behalf of their children. Entrants must be at least thirteen (13) years of age by November 1, 2006. You may enter the Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes by completing the online registration form by stating whether you are the parent or the student, your name, address, city, state, zip, phone number and e-mail address, student’s high school, high school’s city and state, the student’s expected high school graduation date at www.nelnet.com/getajump. Entries will be for a one-time drawing and are limited to one per person. All additional entries by the same person will be discarded.
Alternative Entry Method: You may also enter the Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes without going online. To receive the Official Rules and a registration form by mail, legibly print on a business-size envelope: Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes; your full name and mailing address. Affix first-class postage to the envelope, then fold it and place it in an envelope addressed to: Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes, PO Box 82505, Lincoln, NE 68501-8927. Mail with first-class postage.
Consumer Disclosure
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS SWEEPSTAKES.
A purchase or payment will not increase your chances of winning this sweepstakes.

Description of Prize
Two (2) prizes each of verifiable retail value of $5,000 will be awarded by Nelnet.
Odds of Winning
Nelnet will give away a total of two (2) prizes. The odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received.
Prize Restrictions
Prize may not be substituted, transferred or exchanged. No substitution or cash equivalent of prize permitted. Tax liability, if any, is the sole responsibility of the winner.
Terms and conditions
- Entry. Submission of your entry is your full unconditional acceptance of and agreement to these Official Rules. The Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") is sponsored by Nelnet, Inc., 121 S. 13th Street, Suite 301, Lincoln, NE 68508. "You" means the person who submits an entry.
- Void Where Prohibited. The Sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law, regulation or ordinance. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
- Eligibility. Entry is open to individuals who are legal residents of the United States. Entrants must be high school students whose anticipated graduation date is spring 2007, spring 2008, or spring 2009 and who plan to begin attending college in fall 2007, fall 2008, or fall 2009, or the parents of such high school students may enter on behalf of their children. Entrants must be at least thirteen (13) years of age by November 1, 2006. Employees, officers, or directors of Nelnet, Inc., their affiliates and subsidiaries, and parents, spouses, and members of the household of such employees, officers, and directors are ineligible to participate. In order to be eligible to win, you must have provided Nelnet with a mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number valid on the date of the drawing. If you change your mailing address, e-mail address or telephone number after you register, you can update your contact information by sending a letter via U.S. Mail to: Get-a-Jump Sweepstakes Change Notification, Nelnet, Inc., 121 S. 13th Street, Suite 301, Lincoln, NE 68508. No purchase necessary. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning.
- Effective date of entries. Entries will be effective the day the entry is received either at www.nelnet.com/getajump or via alternative means as indicated above. All entries become the exclusive property of Nelnet, Inc., and will not be acknowledged or returned. You are responsible for any costs of entering, including any online access charges or postage.
- Selection of winner; release. The winners will be determined by two random drawings. The first drawing will include all eligible entries received by September 15, 2007. The second drawing will include all eligible entries received by September 15, 2008. The winners must agree to the use of their names, voices, and likenesses for the purpose of advertising, trade or promotion by Nelnet, Inc and its subsidiaries and affiliates without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
- Notification of winner. Each Sweepstakes winner will be notified within three weeks of the drawing. All decisions are final and binding. Winners will be contacted by letter with certificate and by phone call. If two attempts to reach the winner are unsuccessful the winner will be disqualified and a new winner will be selected. The winner must contact Sponsor as instructed in the notice to the winner and must sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and, where legal, a Publicity Release within 30 days after the date the notice is sent in order to claim his or her prize. Failure to complete these steps within that 30-day period will disqualify the winner and a new winner will be selected from eligible entries in a commercially reasonable period. No exceptions will be made to this rule. Sponsor is not responsible for and will not be liable for late, lost, misdirected or unsuccessful efforts to notify the winner. The names of the prizewinners will also be posted at www.petersons.com.
- Disputes. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the name and address provided on the registration form.
- NOTICE: Any attempted fraud or forgery with respect to entries will result in prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. Any attempted damage to any Web site or attempt to affect the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may result in prosecution under criminal and civil laws at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
- Prize. Two (2) prizes will be awarded as a result of the drawings, each in the form of a check made co-payable to the student and the post-secondary institution the student will be attending. No interest will be paid to the winner for the time between the date of the drawing and the posting of the prize. Winner is responsible for all taxes. Prize is not transferable. The total value of the prizes is $10,000.
- Other conditions. Sponsor, its agents and representatives, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies and legal advisors are not responsible for and will not be liable for: (I) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor that may cause the Sweepstakes to be disrupted or corrupted; (II) failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; (III) late, lost, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, unintelligible or postage due entries; (IV) electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties of any kind; (V) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the Sweepstakes, acceptance, possession or use of the name Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes or from participation in the Sweepstakes; or (VI) any printing or typographical error in any material associated with the Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right (subject to required governmental approvals, if any) to terminate or cancel the Sweepstakes without prior notice at any time, or modify the Sweepstakes due to interference with the proper operation of the Sweepstakes or due to technical corruption.
- Indemnification. You agree to release and hold Sponsor, its employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Sweepstakes or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of the name Get-A-Jump Scholarship Sweepstakes, including without limitation, personal injury, death and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy.
- Resolution of disputes. Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of participating in this Sweepstakes you agree that (I) any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Sweepstakes or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by final and binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and held at the AAA regional office nearest Lincoln, Nebraska; (II) the Federal Arbitration Act will govern the interpretation, enforcement and all proceedings at such arbitration; and (III) judgment upon such arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. Under no circumstances will you be permitted to obtain awards for, and you hereby waive all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees, other than your actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., costs associated with entering the Sweepstakes), and you further waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
Choice of law. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of you and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, will be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of Nebraska without regard to Nebraska choice of law provisions.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Notice
We do not knowingly collect, maintain or use personal information from our websites about children under the age of thirteen. If a child whom we know to be under the age of thirteen sends personal information to us online, we will only use that information to respond directly to that child, notify parents or seek parental consent, and will delete such information from our records. If we change our practices in the future, we will obtain prior, verifiable parental consent before collecting any personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. We are not, however, responsible for the collection and use of information by companies or individuals unaffiliated with us whose websites may contain links to ours, including vendors where you may shop.
Because we do not collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen, we also do not knowingly distribute such information to third parties. We do not knowingly allow children under the age of thirteen to publicly post or otherwise distribute personally identifiable contact information via our site.
