"Located on the coast of Maine near Acadia National Park, AIO is a unique educational experience for students ages 12 to 18. Since 1975, we have introduced young people to the world of marine science through a hands-on curriculum that combines biological, physical, and chemical oceanography with field, classroom, offshore, and laboratory work.

"At the heart of our program is an experienced teaching staff trained in oceanography. These are classroom instructors, practicing scientists, and researchers, many with advanced graduate degrees. Each summer, they inspire 200 select students who come to AIO from all over America and around the world."
