Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) offers an intensive art and design program for high school
students ages 16 to 18 who have completed their sophomore year. The Pre-College Program assists
students in developing pieces for college admission portfolios or simply developing proficiency
in a college-like environment. The outstanding curriculum consists of foundation courses in
drawing, design, and art history and one of 21 majors. Though students at RISD have a
rigorous academic schedule, there is also an abundance of social and cultural opportunities.
Housing is offered in supervised residence halls. Some scholarships are available for qualified
applicants. The Pre-College Program is offered from June 27 to August 8, 2009. For more information,
