The Scholastic Aptitude Test
Containing nearly 500 challenging vocabulary words, the flashcard tool in Peterson's
Practice Tests for the SAT and Practice Tests for the ACT products provide users with
an easy-to-use tool to improve their vocabulary. Sharpening your vocabulary skills
and improving your word knowledge are two important strategies for improving your
scores on the SAT and the ACT.

GED
General Educational Development
More than a million people take the GED every year to earn their high school equivalency
diploma and get a better job or further their education. There are five GED tests: language
arts, writing; social studies; science; language arts, reading; and mathematics. An
important feature of the GED tests is an essay that documents your ability to write
and communicate effectively.
ASVAB
Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
The ASVAB, sponsored by the Department of Defense, is a 3-hour, multi-aptitude,
multiple-choice exam battery. Your ASVAB results provide scores for each of the
individual ten subjects tested, as well as three academic composite scores; Verbal,
Math, and Academic Ability; and two career exploration composite scores. While the
ASVAB is best known for its use in the military recruitment process, it is a useful
tool for all students as it measures the test takers aptitude for various careers.
