AP tests kick off next month and we’re here to help you prepare for exam day. To set you up for success, we’re supplying you with test prep tips, study guides, and the 2022 AP exam schedule.

7 Test Prep Tips

As with any exam, you want to study ahead of time to ensure that you are prepared and familiar with the course material. Here are some test prep tips to keep in mind:

  1. Make a realistic study plan.

Don’t plan to study for six hours a day. Break your study sessions into smaller review periods.

  2. Plan, don’t cram.

Allow ample time to review course material and focus on areas where you need additional study.

  3. Find a quiet place to study.

Reviewing notes or reading in a crowded public place may make it difficult to focus. Instead, opt for a quiet place where you can concentrate on your studies.

  4. Take practice tests.

Peterson’s offers full-length, timed AP practice tests to help you simulate the test-taking experience. Our practice tests feature multiple choice and free response sections that test your understanding of how to answer both types of questions.

  5. Utilize flashcards and other study materials.

Flashcards are a great way to test your knowledge of key terms and definitions. You can also refresh your knowledge of the course material by reviewing class notes and past exams or quizzes.

  6. Ask your teacher for help.

If you’re struggling to understand a concept or question, reach out to your teacher for help. Ask them for specific examples to help walk you through how to solve a problem or explain a concept.

  7. Take breaks when needed.

Between study sessions, it’s important to take breaks to relax your mind. Study sessions that are too long often result in failure to retain the information you’re studying or study fatigue leading to burnout.
