How is this possible? As an adult learner, Norcott coupled credit for prior learning with her company\u2019s tuition reimbursement benefits, and was named the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acenet.edu\/about-ace\/special-initiatives\/Pages\/ACE-Student-of-the-Year-Award.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Council on Education\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Student of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Norcott accrued credit for prior learning through CLEP exams, which are exams administered by the College Board that can be taken at thousands of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/clep.collegeboard.org\/test-center-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">colleges and other testing centers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. CLEP exams are accepted as various forms of college credit at over 3,000 colleges and universities. These exams test your knowledge of a college course, and if you pass, you no longer need to take the course to earn credit. By utilizing the knowledge Norcott attained working as a creative media manager at an engineering firm to pass CLEP exams, as well as utilizing tuition reimbursement, Norcott paid $0 out of pocket for her degree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe fact that I could do that made me very passionate about making these opportunities available for people that don\u2019t know they exist,\u201d she said. \u201cI saw it as kind of an opportunity to highlight accessibility in education.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Norcott created a website, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/clepstep.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CLEPStep.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to help students understand the CLEP process and study independently. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.petersons.com\/testprep\/clep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peterson\u2019s CLEP Practice Tests Plus+<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is recommended as one of her favorite CLEP study resources. Peterson\u2019s offers practice tests for 31 CLEP exams, as well as 28 DSST exams, another method for earning credit for prior learning.
