Peterson\u2019s Launches New Online Communities for Military Members\/Veterans and Adult Learners\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO – March 12, 2020 – Peterson\u2019s recently unveiled two new online communities designed for two fast-growing nontraditional student groups<\/span>\u2014<\/span>military members\/veterans<\/a> and adult learners<\/a><\/span>\u2014<\/span>to help streamline the process of going back to school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMany of the resources available to help students seeking college focus on the traditional student graduating from high school,\u201d said Jordan Stolper, Peterson\u2019s CEO. \u201cWe want to ensure those nontraditional students are also having their needs met when it comes to pursuing higher education. The US is seeing a sharp rise in the number of adults 25 years or older going back to school or enrolling for the first time, and we want to provide them with the tools they need to be successful.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, adult college students over the age of 25 comprise 6.6 million, or about 35 percent of those currently enrolled in higher education, according to a 2018 survey from the U.S. Census Bureau<\/a>. The survey also revealed that the adult student population is expected to grow much faster than that of younger students over the next several years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of these nontraditional students have served in the military and are preparing to return to civilian life in search of what\u2019s next. Others are opting for a career change or are looking to increase their earning power with a new degree or certificate that should translate into higher paying jobs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For those who have or are currently serving in the military, generous veterans\u2019 education benefits are one of the reasons for an increased number of veterans returning to school. Peterson\u2019s Military Resource Community<\/a> makes it easy for military members to identify Yellow Ribbon<\/a> and other military-friendly schools, as well as programs that work toward careers<\/a> that are common among veterans.<\/span><\/p>\n

For other adult learners, Peterson\u2019s provides a list of accelerated programs<\/a>, and other options to help shorten the time to a degree, such as DSST and CLEP exams. The Adult Learners Resource Community<\/a> also provides a list of parent-friendly schools that help <\/span>alleviate the hardship of providing child care while attending college so adults can focus on coursework and earning their degree.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Peterson\u2019s Resource Communities provide a number of valuable resources, including information about DSST<\/a> and CLEP<\/a> exam test prep to help students save time and money, a scholarship search database<\/a> to help students fund their education, as well as numerous downloadable resources, relevant blog posts, videos and podcasts<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

To help fund their education, Peterson\u2019s is sponsoring two $2,500 scholarships <\/span>\u2014<\/span> one for <\/span>graduate students<\/span> and one for <\/span>undergraduate students<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
