The Art Institute of California-Hollywood, a campus of Argosy University

Overview

The city of Hollywood has boundaries. They're perfectly visible on any map. Those looking to push boundaries, however, will find an opportunity much closer to home than the city limits. At The Art Institute of California-Hollywood, students are invited to rock the boat, defy convention, and challenge the status quo each and every day. For those who are ready to claim their place here, the big red "Ai" atop the Art Institute's building will light the way to a challenging, collaborative, creative education.

At The Art Institute of California-Hollywood, students can choose from bachelor's and associate's degree programs--as well as non-degree programs--in one of eight competitive areas of study: Visual Design, Interior & Product Design , Marketing, Animation & Effects, Film & Production, Gaming & Technology, Fashion, or Culinary. The experience is challenging, the lessons are hands-on, and the journey leads toward one specific destination: a career in the creative arts.

Along the way, talented instructors bring real world experience* to the classroom. And in those classrooms, students are greeted by tools, technology, and software not unlike the pros use. When it's all said and done, graduates can leave The Art Institute of California-Hollywood with more than a portfolio. They can also come away with the confidence it takes to turn their creative passion into a fulfilling career.

*Credentials and experience levels vary by faculty and instructors.

Location

The Art Institute of California-Hollywood is located in North Hollywood's NoHo Arts District. This is a pedestrian-friendly urban village with direct access to L.A.'s subway system. Students can find a full array of amenities, including contemporary theaters, art galleries, parks, cafés and shops--it's a great environment to pursue a creative education.

The district features the largest concentration of music recording venues west of the Mississippi. The theater district has thirty-one theaters, including two new large venues that expand upon existing theaters, the NoHo Arts Center and the historic El Portal.

L.A. has more museums per capita than any other city in the world. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is the biggest of its kind in the western U.S. There's also Getty Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Santa Monica Museum of Art at Bergamot Station, and the art galleries lining Gallery Row.

Students can visit many iconic sites and attractions nearby. Cruise Sunset Boulevard and the Sunset Strip, stopping at well-known locations like the Comedy Store, the House of Blues, and Whisky A Go-Go, or drive through Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu. They can take a visit to Grauman's Chinese Theater and walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame looking for the names of their favorite stars, stroll the paved paths of Venice Beach and meet some colorful characters, take a studio tour, or walk the Santa Monica Pier.

Live sports events are also abundant--the L.A. Dodgers play at beautiful Chavez Ravine, and the Angels play at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Likewise, there are two local NHL teams--the L.A. Kings play at Staples Center while the Anaheim Ducks call Honda Center home. And both the Clippers and Lakers of the NBA play at Staples Center.

Since L.A. is home to industry giants such as Disney/Capital Cities, ABC, CBS Television City, Paramount, Columbia, and Universal Studios, it's not surprising that the majority of projected new jobs in the city are in the technological and creative areas of the entertainment field.

Academic Facilities

Ask a student at The Art Institute of California-Hollywood what he or she learned in school today and there's no telling what the answer will be. In classrooms that feel more like studios, sound stages, kitchens, and laboratories, students aren't just taught from textbooks, but with tools--many of which are identical to what industry professionals use. It's all part of preparing students to hit the ground running once they graduate.

Costs

Actual tuition and housing costs will vary depending on program, number of credits enrolled, and living arrangements. Prospective students should contact a Student Financial Services professional at the school for details.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Students who require financial assistance should first complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and meet with a financial aid officer. Students may also apply for a number of scholarships focusing on their specific areas of career interest.

Faculty

The instructors at The Art Institute of California-Hollywood tend to have something in common. Curious what it is? Just look at their résumés--their job histories outside the classroom. That's right, many of the faculty members here bring real-world experience* to the classroom. And that's what makes these instructors so special: their lessons are grounded in reality. It's the type of teaching that can help prepare students for their career before they even land that first job interview.

*Credentials and experience levels vary by faculty and instructors.
