Accreditation and Licensing

The historic harbor town of Charleston may be small, but it has a little of just about everything for the creative person--a thriving arts community, culturally important architecture and atmosphere, a sense of history, and a quiet but steady creative energy that inspires the imagination.

The campus of The Art Institute of Charleston is located in the middle of this beautiful city, surrounded by opportunities for students to discover exciting new things as they grow personally, academically, and professionally. Charleston, famous as a culinary destination, is also brimming with festivals and events celebrating the visual and performing arts, museums and entertainment, and is considered a new source for many up-and-coming fashion designers.

Charleston is big on creativity, and that gives students the opportunity to make a real impact on--and a significant contribution to--the local design, culinary, fashion, and media scene. They can also gain the kind of real-world experience that can pay off big in the future.

The city streets of coastal Charleston offer a fascinating mix of history, architecture, and culture with a modern sense of style.

King Street is Charleston's main thoroughfare, a shopping mecca that boasts an antiques district, a high-end fashion district, small specialty boutiques, and several art galleries. Perpendicular to King Street is Market Street, featuring the work of local artisans whose talents attract both residents and tourists.

Within a short walk of the school's campus, there is an amazing array of award-winning, legendary restaurants offering regional, classic, and international cuisine--a world of educational opportunities for culinary students, and a whole lot of great dining for those with other career interests.

Charleston offers the amenities of a bigger city in a relaxed, friendly, easy-to-navigate community. It's a perfect blend of cosmopolitan culture and small-town charm. And it's a great place for a creative person to learn.
